This thread has been set up to follow the travels of Caledonia and Alba, the young ospreys raised at Loch Garten in 2012.
Their mother is “EJ”, the resident female at Loch Garten since 2003; there is some doubt about the identity of their biological father, given EJ’s dalliance with a male from a neighbouring nest, Blue XD, both before and after the return of her regular partner Odin, who raised them.
Caledonia hatched on 16th May and Alba on 18th May; they both fledged on 14th July.
This is a link to the Loch Garten blog describing the ringing and satellite tagging.
Caledonia’s ring is Blue/White AA1, reading downwards. Alba’s is Blue/White AA2, reading upwards.
Following the tracking
This page gives a quick overview of the routes on a map, which will be more useful once they start migrating.
If you want to look at the routes in more detail on Google Earth, this page contains instructions on setting up your PC to do this.
This blog contains some useful information about how the tracking works – we are now on a 3-day reporting period.
Great, I hope some make there way here, can't get face book. :(

NiteOwl me neither :(
I posted on the Caledonia pics thread but moved to here.
Will the river and Seville become a lot busier in the summer, interesting to see and hope she stays and of course safe.
Maybe this could change things and if so, I do hope Caledonia stays in Spain. Only she will tell us :)
B&B - Yes its a waiting game, fingers crossed that she stays, but put it this way if she decides to move I hope it is North and NOT South.

Caledonia in Seville - 3rd February 2013
containing details/photos from the successful mission to see Caledonia by the VAP Team (Valerie, Alison and Pip) as transcribed by Mary GK.
Edit: the VAP team also held a Question and Answer session for the LG Forum here, after their return
Have just noticed Caledonia's "points" up to 30th Jan have appeared on Google Earth.
Will have a closer look later.
Sue C : Thanks for that. I have just had a look and it seems that nothing much has changed since the end of November. She seems very settled roosting on the Rio Huelva and going on fishing trips in a fairly small range.
Some interesting news about Caledonia,
This weekend I saw her eating a fish on a pylon close to her roosting area. It was the first time I see her perched relatively close (260 m). She was eating on the same pylon for 4h; then she flew to her resting area with the remaining piece of fish. I took the opportunity to collect some fish remains (fish operculum and skin) under the pylon. Today I saw her again perched with a fish on another pylon from long distance (1000 m).
In addition, I can confirm that she is not always alone, at least this morning. When crossing the bridge, I saw her flying together with another osprey on the fishing area. This "new" osprey was flying with a fish, was not tagged with satellite and looked like and adult, but not sure.
It flew away with the fish and Caley stayed on the channel fishing.
I have some pictures of Caley eating on the pylon. I have to learn how to upload photos in the blog-forum, if possible.
Edit: Thanks Tiger, I found out how to upload pictures ;)

Best regards.
Roberto
PD: I am not sure where to post new info on Caledonia, since there are several similar topics both in the blog and the forum.
Thank you very much Roberto, it is very kind of you to give us these updates and they are SO much appreciated.
Not sure I like her sitting on these Pylons though, but Caledonia will do what she pleases.
My mind is thinking of all sorts when you mention she was flying with an Adult Osprey (an untagged one). Is anyone thinking what I am thinking LOL
That is fascinating news. I sure that this is the right place for your report.
Do you think that Caledonia has already found a mate?
The best place to practice posting pictures is in the Technical Thread
