This thread has been set up to follow the travels of Caledonia and Alba, the young ospreys raised at Loch Garten in 2012.
Their mother is “EJ”, the resident female at Loch Garten since 2003; there is some doubt about the identity of their biological father, given EJ’s dalliance with a male from a neighbouring nest, Blue XD, both before and after the return of her regular partner Odin, who raised them.
Caledonia hatched on 16th May and Alba on 18th May; they both fledged on 14th July.
This is a link to the Loch Garten blog describing the ringing and satellite tagging.
Caledonia’s ring is Blue/White AA1, reading downwards. Alba’s is Blue/White AA2, reading upwards.
Following the tracking
This page gives a quick overview of the routes on a map, which will be more useful once they start migrating.
If you want to look at the routes in more detail on Google Earth, this page contains instructions on setting up your PC to do this.
This blog contains some useful information about how the tracking works – we are now on a 3-day reporting period.
I feel sure they will. Am sure Richard will have told him they are coming over so it must be on the cards.

Wonderful news!
Birdie's DU Summaries 2018 https://www.imagicat.com/
Reading between the lines, Roberto was not actually birdwatching, he was crossing the bridge, presumably by car, so it was a chance sighting probably, which makes it all the more remarkable. That together with his background, he knew what to do straight away and contacted RD, which is even more remarkable. Members of the public in Seville, may well have seen Caledonia, but thought nothing of it. It just shows that just occasionally, luck plays a part, with a favourable outcome.

Sat track schedule Spring 2014
LG 7 days; RW & SWT nil; LDOP varies
If it was a chance sighting it makes it even more amazing, jsb !
Now hopefully LG have Roberto looking out for Caledonia and fantastic news.
Sheila a chance sighting but I bet Roberto sees more now and the best news ever :)
Just a thought. Caledonia might well join up with the other ospreys in Andalusia and never return to Scotland!
See birds taken to Spain

Tiger for me I want Caledonia to stay safe and excited by her but do not want to tempt fate.
I hope she stays put until next year and Caledonia will do what she wants to do.

Thrilled to hear this and must be her and would be great to see photos. She seems to have a found safe place

Fantastic that she has come so close to another group of osprey supporters. For years I have wanted to know more about the Spanish translocation project. For some reason they keep writing anything they do write in Spanish. :)
Now through Caledonia we may find out more.
So first we find Frederic, then Farid and now Roberto. Ospreys are truly wonder amabassadors.
