This thread has been set up to follow the travels of Caledonia and Alba, the young ospreys raised at Loch Garten in 2012.
Their mother is “EJ”, the resident female at Loch Garten since 2003; there is some doubt about the identity of their biological father, given EJ’s dalliance with a male from a neighbouring nest, Blue XD, both before and after the return of her regular partner Odin, who raised them.
Caledonia hatched on 16th May and Alba on 18th May; they both fledged on 14th July.
This is a link to the Loch Garten blog describing the ringing and satellite tagging.
Caledonia’s ring is Blue/White AA1, reading downwards. Alba’s is Blue/White AA2, reading upwards.
Following the tracking
This page gives a quick overview of the routes on a map, which will be more useful once they start migrating.
If you want to look at the routes in more detail on Google Earth, this page contains instructions on setting up your PC to do this.
This blog contains some useful information about how the tracking works – we are now on a 3-day reporting period.

It was 7.04 pm at least! :)
Tiger Signature
Alba seems to have found a good spot. Hope she stops there.
As far as I can see, she went right over the Senegal river.
Has there been any indication that Alba has stopped at all to fish? Just wondering if she has eaten anything?
She looks to be near the Gambia Tiger. Maps on previous page.

Well she clearly is in place where she can fish now.
Alba is in just about the best place possible for a young osprey. The Sine Saloum Delta area. She is close to where Swedish osprey 19153 spent 2 years and not too far from Rothiemurchus wintering area:
Thats good to know Alan. thank you
I'm puzzled by Cally's strange decision to return to Seville and spend the last couple of days loitering around the docks!
I checked back on Part 1 of the video I posted the other night - I reckon the Points for the 4th Sept, and the final one on 5th, are in the trees on the left just before the "Puente del V Centenario" shown from about 3 mins 15 secs.
Richard has posted a note in the blog saying he is happy all is well with both of them, so it will be interesting to see what he says about this tomorrow.
This looks like a busy port, perhaps Cally has found some free food? I hope she moves on in a while, she may have done so already as this data was yesterday.
