DAILY UPDATE (LG nest) Sunday 17 June 2012

How many of us are torn between dread and hope for the new day to come?

The peace and quiet of the LG nest is punctuated solely by unalarming chick noises.  Long may that last.

  • thanks Robert The Bruce, I am sorry if I caused offence to fellow members but life must go on in adversity. I tuned into the camlink about 3 mins before the final attack, saw chick#2 alarm call and semed to try and defend chick#3. Not a pleasant sight at any time, but my whole point is that it happens allover, the only difference being , the others are not being recorded and watched by anyone!

the best shot is the one you haven't taken yet.

  • Good afternoon everyone, it's been a long

Time since I posted due to personal circumstances,

But have continued to remain up to date with all the

Goings on in the nest, although this year found

It extremely difficult and like Tigers statement I have yet

To see this kind of aggression, to the point I was

Unable to watch unfortunately in the end.

Now I've logged on to read updates, as I'm away

Camping, to read  the fate of the little one,

Absolutley gutted! Ive had a weep! Sob more like lol and

yes I'm a wuss in some folks eyes.

But I prayed for good fishing and chick 2 to quit the aggression and I'm

Not a religious person, I just wanted harmony.

I appreciate it's nature and what will be will be!

Just want to thank you all for your wonderful

Updates and photos/videos, you really are a fantastic

Group, too many names to mention. Tina

  • Still chucking it down and yet the lens is still not clear.  Never mind that.  Poor Ospreys have had a miserable season due to the weather :-(

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Agree, Clare. We should respect each others feelings but we are only human and subject to basic human instincts/ behaviours at times. Sad when it happens, though and results in other folk suffering.

I'm off topic, I know, so will go and attend to the dinner.

  • Hi Bettyboo.  Sorry it had to be such a sad day for you to return to this forum, I remember you from last year.   Has been really hard to watch this season but maybe now peace will reign both on and off camera!  Hope you stay with us now that you are back.

  • Always look on the bright side of life! Da da, da da,da,da,da,da,da,da. Just thought I would cheer myself up if Nobody else!  xx

Funny you should come out with that - I was watching Monty Python just last night (the Meaning of Life, hilarious) and my current reading is Michael Palin's Hemingway Adventure.  You've cheered me up just by bringing up a mental image of the Life of Brian's terrific finale.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

Admittedly it probably has happened elsewhere but the point is that we have been watching this nest this season for several months and little #3 about 3 weeks or so and took it to our hearts and now they are broken. Hope this doesn't upset Moffer but when her dear Bella died, somebody posted, (sorry don't remember who) "Grief is the price we pay for loving."....we don't "know" the other poor birds it may be happening to so can't feel the same level of distress. If we didn't CARE we wouldn't be watching in the first place

You're not a wuss.  I hope nobody has told you otherwise.
