Hi all: Here's to a problem-free week on the site. Check out the last week's final page or so for updates from everyone, including one from Maureen (HillaryH) who's back with us after a hospital stay due to a chest infection and wants directions to Google Earth. Maureen - assume you downloaded GE before? If not, just go to http://earth.google.com/ and click on the Download Google Earth 5 button at right. I can't remember right now how to load Rothes and Mallachie's route; perhaps someone else will let you know if you need additional info. Glad you're back!
Alan posted a hummingbird link (http://vimeo.com/hummingbirds#8409299) for those who missed it and the week's chat ended with a long post from OG, who'd been composing it for days but was unable to get it on the site due to the techy problems! And no OG, haven't attempted the printer-wireless problem yet; can only handle one techy problem at week it seems!!
Have a nice Sunday all. Let's see if this posts
Morning everyone,
Auntie : Last night temp was down to -5c here so almost on a par with yourselves.
I have to go on a shopping mission this morning as weather for the rest of the week does not look too good with more snow forecast and perhaps a major snow event on friday although there is some uncertainty about it.
It sure is cold this morning with bird bath frozen and cars encased in frost.
Partly cloudy , dry , Temp -3c , Uncomfortably cold. Sunrise 08:10 , Sunset 16:00
Just popping in to say a very belated Happy New Year to you All. We returned home yesterday. Very cold here this morning and we had a sprinkling of snow overnight which has frozen, so very slippy outside. We will have to go out for food shopping as the forecast does not look good for the rest of the week. Did you see the story of the people trapped in the pub for three days in Yorkshire because of the snow?
Maureen sorry to hear you have been in hospital again but great to see you on line again.
Here's hoping this will now post.
Third attempt at reading successful – will see if I can now add a few words! Fog and sharp frost here first thing – sun getting through now. Eastern areas worse – heavy snow forecast in eastern England. Taking decorations down – dining room clear, lounge started – just the tree to tackle after a cup of coffee.
Auntie – thanks for confirming the frozen sea.
Tiger – thanks for Finland map link.
AQ – sorry you were woken so early – probably sleeping light knowing you would have to get up early, so you heard more sounds than you might normally. Glad the Daughters got off ok – must be quite tense listening for their take-off – I remember watching our son being taken for a helicopter circuit when he was ten – take off and landing made me feel sick! . Hope you are having a good sleep now! I never used to like Swiss choc, but quite enjoy it now. We are back to our one piece of choc per day now – with after lunch coffee.
Annette – Green and Black is excellent – I think it is organic and fair trade too – costs a lot.
Diane – hope the drip strategy works so you don’t have to go down below, where the Wild Things are!
Auntie – enjoy your “warmer” weather while you can - don’t forget to wrap up still.
Alan – keep safe on your shopping mission – Friday’s forecast sounds quite scary down your way, but a slight change in wind direction and it could all disappear off the map!
Brenda - welcome back! There was a lady in the North who went out by car, boat and bus for a turkey for Christmas and is still to arrive home - she hopes she will make it today!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Watched yesterday last part of BBC`s three part series about Yellowstone. Absolutely fascinating and gorgeous pictures!
Here is a visitor at Nauvo-nest

Great picture of that bird Auntie. Is that a raven?
Not sure if you know about the ravens at the Tower of London. They take great care of them there because there is a legend that if the ravens ever leave the Tower of London it will crumble. If you want to know more then Google "ravens and the Tower of London".
Apparently the oldest raven ever at the Tower of London was 44 years old. Wow.
Morning all Fife still covered in snow and I haven't ventured out since saturday except to put out food for the birds mostly starlings and blackbirds who spend more energy chasing one another than eating. I am also a lover of chocolate and am a member of the hotel chocolate club but I have curtailed myself to their selection to one every three months and then I only have two per day so the box lasts me about two weeks. They are expensive but everybody is entitled to treat now and again. Bill Bailey is starting a new bird watching programme on Sky 1 on friday night,he seems to take celebrities on a bird watching trip and they have to guess what the birds are. One of the programmes comes from Mull. Hope everyone keeps well.

OG, I hadn't heard of that poor unfortunate lady. I would think she doesn't want to know about any turkey by now. I am just watching the news and they are saying that Fife and Renfrew are now without salt and grit and are desperately awaiting deliveries.
Hi Tiger. Yes I think it is a raven. I heard about the Tower Ravens i my first visit in London years back when and saw some of them too. Hope they stay there so we don`t have to sing "London Tower is falling down" LOL
And thanks for that link, will save it to my favorites
Morning all and happy Monday
Hope the site improves this week.
Thanks for all the chat/pictures. Auntie, that is very cold to feeze the sea!
I am putting away all my choccy today to try and be good.
Annette/Diane, thanks for the link for that programme, I'll check that out.
Catch up later
