Weekly Chat, Sunday December 13, 2009

Hi everyone. If you didn't check the last few pages of the previous week, it was very busy. I'm going to catch up all the latest posts after dinner.

  • hi all. Feel guilty as I am only dipping in and out at the moment and can't comment on all the posts but enjoying reading them all

Stay safe and warm everyone and hope the snow doesn't get to bad. My mum in Kent says she has 5/6 inches and isn't going anywhere!

Great picture Alan. Diane, sorry about your trip to Walmart, never a pleasent experience I find!

    Happy Friday everyone.

  • Good Morning Day:

I know we all need another cam to look at right? Speaking of which, I can't get a picture at either of the Osprey cams in Florida or at the sawmill. I try at various times of the day with no luck. Anyone else having trouble?

The Decorah Iowa Eagle cam (which is also infrared) has a revised URL:

    http://www.luther.edu/eaglecam/

    Happy Vendredi!

  • Thanks for the link to the eagle cam Caerann. Nice sharp picture.

Osprey on the Florida Dunedin cam now. I have no bother with this link:

  • Caerann : Alternative link to the Cape Coral nest. It is empty at the moment:

  • Hi everyone.

It's been several hours since I logged in, so this might take me a while to write.  Please read this slowly as I can't type fast ;-) (sorry, terrible joke but I can't resist it.)

Caerann: I'm not sure I can remember Sea Wolf or Sea Devil.  I'll probably google them to see if anything jogs my memory.  Thanks for the eagle cam link.

Diane, Annette:  The thought of kitchen devices that look like torture devices, scares me quite a lot.  Mind you I feel I've achived a lot being able to use the common ones let along items that have most of use puzzled.

Auntie: I honestly don't think I could handle -20C but I bet it's visually stunning where you are.

Alan:  That's a fantastic picture.  I love it when there's a decent amount of snow covering.  It really brightens things up I think.  Can't quite tell if the Stroe Mosse photo is a Goshawk but it's a great looking bird from what I can see of it.  Love the bald eagle cam.  They're such wonderful looking birds.

Margobird:  Totally agree with your sentiments about birds being shot.  There's absolutely no sense to it.

I hope everyone has had and will continue to have a happy Friday.

    Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Hello Annette the trip to London is off.  Where OH's mum lives just outside London has had a very heavy fall of snow with more promised so tood the decision between us that it would be silly to risk it.  Have a good day.

    Margobird

  • Hi all

Still chilly here but sunny and bright. Hope all those with snow are taking it easy and stay safe.

    Paul, enjoyed the joke:)

Margobird, sorry your trip is off but better to be safe.

Not much else to report, quiet day here...

  • Caerann: No problem here with Dunedin cam, though was thrown by daylight - thought it was Dunedin Scotland (but no! Florida).  Spent morning moving furniture to lay down newly cleaned lovely rugs. And still have grocery shopping mission to go on. Sigh....

  • Report from a public health fellow at Monash (Victoria) Uni that Santa Claus is a bad role model. An obese individual who needs to clean up his fat & lazy image. Children should stop leaving out biscuits, milk & alcohol on Xmas Eve and it was suggested that Santa should get out of the sleigh and walk. Drink-driving, speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt and extreme sports such as roof-surfing & chimney-jumping were other examples of his risky behaviour. The silly season or an academic trying to get noticed? The report went on to say the academic had received 'hate mail' and accusations that he had no Xmas spirit.

I see in paper that 75 fires burning in NSW, 17 out of control, but showers of rain & cooler weather are now helping the firefighters. Yesterday I started chasing cobwebs, then an elderly relative dropped in. Thank goodness one room was tidy. Later I managed to finish the devilled almonds and Florentines - oooooh, my aching back. Must do some ironing or I won't be able to be seen in public. Good news from the weatherman, he expects a nice pleasant 25 C Xmas Day.
