Hi everyone. If you didn't check the last few pages of the previous week, it was very busy. I'm going to catch up all the latest posts after dinner.
Snapshot of eagle at Store Mosse:
Hi Margobird!! Just came on here, & there was your 'good morning' message. Hope you stay indoors if its going to get icy. Don't want a picture over Christmas of you looking black blue & purple, like a special Christmas decoration!!
Thanks to Alan & Tiger for the link about the Rutland Osprey, v. interesting to read. Suppose that if the birds appear to be doing unusual things, that is what the tracking is all about, finding out what they really do, & us humans not just assuming facts without substance.
Lovely pic of the Dove in a Dish, OG!
Hope our transatlantic friends can get back to us now all appears ok with the site.
Thanks Tiger for that I am just going to stay positive.

There is another case of an osprey shedding its transmitter:

The osprey that really wowed the world was SSK in 2002. After an adventure over the atlantic it reached Portugal but then the transmitter went dead. I thought we would not hear of it again. Then on at the bottom of page 103 of "Life of Ospreys" it is reported as nesting near Aberfoyle. Last I hear she was still there and still has the transmitter.
See http://www.ospreys.org.uk/satresultsSSK.html
It would be great to have her tracked again just to see if she goes to Africa or stays in Potugal.
A point to note is that tranmitters would only last about 10 months in the past. Now they can potentially last much longer.

Lindybird I will be staying in as much as possible. All Christmas present shopping done and wrapped and cards posted. I am going out with a someone I worked with for lunch tomorrow but will not be walking very far and Saturday will be going up to London but at least I will have my OH to hang on to. I am aways extremely nervous when there is ice around I must admit.
Great eagle pic, Alan. Love the birds of prey the best of all. Enjoy your 'holiday' at home, without Lady P: we all need 'me' time sometimes! -always play my music extra loud when alone in the house, myself. Give Thunderdog a big hug if he's lonely!
Must go & do boring Christmas preparations, dusting, laundry & etc now....womans work is never done....
Margobird: Hope you enjoy your trip to the Capital, it will look festive at this time of year, I expect (never been in the winter, myself). Did you say you were going to see a show? which one?
Another eagle pic with corvid arriving:
Lindybird we are going to meet up with family to have a nice meal and exchange presents. It will be very crowded up there I know. You sort of have to go with flow. We used to go up and see the lights every year and do a bit of a shopping but I find it a bit of a trial. I have got poor eyesight and spend most of my time colliding with people and apologising. Could handle it when I was younger but I tend to get a bit stressed with it now.
We did go to a show weekend before last. Went to see Tommy Steele in Scrooge at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton which was excellent. The following day we went up to the 'Royal Albert Hall to watch all the old players of the tennis world which was most enjoyable as well.
Know what you mean about the crowds, Margobird. Can't stand all that pushing & shoving, myself. Hang on tight to your man & try not to do what I do: which is find myself saying "sorry, sorry" to people who have actually bumped into ME!
ps Bet Tommy Steele was good, did you enjoy it?
