Weekly Chat, 6th December 2009

See that Annette has been too busy perhaps, to start a new week, so I'm doing the honours. Rather wet in this part of the world this morning, so doing lots of tidying & Christmas preparing stuff.

  • Alan thanks for the clock counting down the days I feel like I am wishing my life away but I really can't wait to see our beautiful ospreys again.  Getting ever nearer to the shortest day now.  Once it has passed I start to feel a lot better even though it will only get lighter by a minute a day I think, it just makes me feel better.

See you are on a shopping trip again, have fun.

  • Thanks Auntie and I am glad that you managed to order the book. It is well worth it. Also like the reindeers. The family portrait is actually a Christmas card and at the bottom it says FAB CHRISTMAS.

Tiger : I am with you on the countdown clock. I make it 103 days and counting. We wont go into the hours minutes and seconds. I guess it is syncronize your countdown clocks time.

Weather on TI has been foggy. sun is trying to come out.

    Temp 5.1c , Humidity 98% , Dew Point 4.8c , Pressure 1033hPa , Wind NNW 7 mph.

  • Yes Lindybird tick, tick personally I am getting beside myself already thinking about the return of EJ and Odin I hope.  Have a good day.

  • What a softie you are Gary buying treats for other odgs.  Have to admit though it would be the sort of thing I would do.  Have a good day.

Yes Alan I am using 25 March as the ETA for the osprey going by EJ's arrival last year. Of course other UK ospreys have arrived earlier but this is Loch Garten.

Interestingly up until 1750 25 March was New year's day in England. In Scotland they changed about 1600. So there must have been a time when crossing the border made you change years. Then they worry about having a different time zone for Scotland!

Yes we can have a when will they return thread. It would need to be by the hour given all the people who might want to make a bet. I doubt the RSPB could be involved in gambling though. That is the preserve of Paddy Power, William Hills, Ladbrokes and Betfair.

On a betting theme, Tiger Hawk has just won the 12.00 race at Southwell!    ;-)). Should have been on that one, Tiger.

  • Morning/afternoon/evening all:)

Auntie, thanks for the link, lovely photo of him/her laying down. I'm sure you will love the book when it comes.

Tiger, lots of facinating stuff as always, more than I can take in at once so will return later!

Sandy, good luck with the decorating and hope you get some time off.

Annette, enjoy the rain when it comes. This is one big storm, luckily we haven't had it half as bad as some.

Cold and windy here today so having to bundle up to go outside. Have good days everyone.

  • Hello, All.

Just returned from shopping Mission, like many others both on here & in the big wide world-  went early but still hard to find parking space.  Had to thaw out the car 1st, which was a shock after the milder weather we've had lately. (sorry to those overseas bloggers, but you probably know that here in UK we are obsessed with it- you just never know what you're going to wake up to: although we are a small bunch of islands, the weather can be totally different from one end to the next.)

auntie:   Lovely pic of the reindeer, thanks. Keep yourself warm up there!

Alan:  Like the new family photo i d -   F.A.B.

Watching 2 Goldfinches on my feeder, now I've put out niger seed they are coming every day so I'm thrilled as we don't usually tempt them into the garden.  Have a good Rest of the Day/Night, everyone.
