Weekly Chat, 6th December 2009

See that Annette has been too busy perhaps, to start a new week, so I'm doing the honours. Rather wet in this part of the world this morning, so doing lots of tidying & Christmas preparing stuff.

  • Don't want to bore everyone but here is one more picture I took yesterday that I like:)

  • Happy Monday, All.  Damp again here, but anyway we are busy moving furniture about as OH is manfully handling carpet washer we've hired to clean two rooms where it looks rather grubby, before we start to think about Christmas decs. Will have to spend the evening later laying on the bed watching TV while it dries thoroughly- expect I'll drop off to sleep!!

Glad you enjoyed my description of the Concert, it was such fun watching the children & yes, they are all the more endearing when it goes a little wrong!  Always takes me back to when our two were in the school nativity with teatowels on their heads.

Diane:  Thanks for your interesting description of the weather in Indiana.  DjoanS:  Have a good time in Dublin, expect you will enjoy a Christmassy break there.

patriciat:  Nell is such a lovely dog, photo makes me want to give her a hug!  auntie:  Thanks for your description of your party- it sounded really nice. Glad you're not too cold there, yet.

AQ:   We definitely have 'one-of-each-itis' in the garden here - it was my Mothers garden before mine & she packed it with special plants, now I've added to it & as you say a lot of the plants have memories of people & places which have a particular meaning.Much nicer & more personal than a so-called 'designer' garden.

Shepherds Pie is really just minced meat, beef or lamb usually, fried off with some onions & added stock (you can use a cube!)  then put in an oven proof dish or tin & topped with lots of mashed potato.  Bake in oven for long enough to cook meat through, then brown off the topping under the grill if you like a really brown top. Serve with cold sliced beetroot on the side, & a green vegetable or carrots.

that's made me hungry now, and it's lunchtime..... off I go for bowl of soup & some toast.

  • Oooh!  Gary, that's not boring at all!!!  an early Christmas Card for us!!

Just lovely, with the trees so white.  Thank you.

  • GOLDEN TULIPS, from in my garden this spring, to warm us all up a little.

  • Afternoon all

Gary - nothing boring about that photo ... its gorgeous

Lindybird -  beautiful tulips ... won't be long before we see our spring bulbs again ... I hope

Alan -   I haven't seen the coati ... but I have seen birds I don't recognise ... one looked like a pheasant with the wrong colouring ... must investigate!

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

  • Gary lovely photo and Nancy is gorgeous.  The snow looks so nice.  We have torrential rain again today and I think it is never going to stop.

  • Lindybird just what we need a huge splash of colour to cheer us up and think of the Spring.  Weather here today is just awful, very heavy rain and I am trying to keep my poor garden birds topped up with food as they are coming in droves.  Welly boots and waterproof coat on and off all day so far.

  • Meant to say in my last post that I noticed the daffodils were coming up already in my garden, hope the rain doesn't  wash them away.
