This Topic has been set up to follow the Spring 2012 migration, and summer activities, of satellite tracked ospreys, excluding Rothes and Tore from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread.
It replaces this earlier thread, Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2011 - Feb 2012.

No the Darvic only has the numbers 44 on it in white on a blue background, what I am saying is that if when we report or chat about this osprey we add the suffix (12), then it gives us more identification.

PATILY - When I was up at Loch Garten in July, I asked Richard if he knew how many Chicks Blue XD and Green J had and he told me that they had only the ONE Chick. I reported it on Gabfest 20th July Page 107
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
Thanks Mary for confirmation - I posted that I thought Richard had spoken to someone about this and had posted but apologise that I did not recall it was your self.

Is it more than probable that Odin is only the "stepfather". Sorry I am sure that this has been discussed but I did not have internet access for most of the spring/early summer. Thanks
Statistically (with huge thanks as always to Tiger & Chloe): Odin returned on 1 April. EJ had been dallying with XD since the 28th, and spent a certain amount of time playing away with him in the following week (Roy Dennis saw her at XD's nest on the 5th, so it seems reasonable to assume she was there on several other occasions when she wasn't at LG for longish periods). 1st egg was laid on 9 April, and 2nd on the 12th.
So EJ can perhaps be given benefit of the doubt as regards Alba, but it seems highly likely that Caledonia, hatched from that suspiciously early first egg, was fathered by XD. Biologically, at any rate. Since she wouldn't have survived without Odin's incubation, protection and provisioning skills thereafter, in human terms at least he is just as much her dad.
Hi, has anyone any news on Einion as Dyfi said the next data was due 4/8. Maybe I have missed but I am not worrying as hopefully it is the battery not charging.
Maybe Dyfi are trying to make sense of data before they publish.
Really staying positive for Einion, Lets hope it is the battery.
B&B - I was at Dyfi last week, and they really didn't seem too worried about Einion. As long as the signals they _are_ getting show normal movement - which they seem to be - hopefully he is ok. Emyr is running the centre on his own for the next day or two (Janine & Alwyn are over at Rutland), so probably just hasn't had time to put the data up yet.
Rachel thank you and loved your report on your visit to Dyfi. I am not too worried either as sure it is something causing the battery to be low. More worrying if it full power and not moving.
I know a Emyr is busy and they do a fantastic job of updating :)

Thank you for that Rachel, I also followed a link to Chloe and Tiger's stats, I hadn't realised there was a third chick (which most likely would have been fathered by Odin). How upsetting to loose it at that age due to sibling rivalry. What a challenging season for ospreys this year, so many sad moments; I am almost (only almost) glad I was out of touch.

Absolutely! I commented on that while I was there, and Janine just seemed to take it for granted - 21st century; 24/7 viewing, and people need - and deserve - answers then & there, not hours later. Or words to that effect. I still think they are wonderful - noone else, however dedicated, goes that far.
