This Topic has been set up to follow the Spring 2012 migration, and summer activities, of satellite tracked ospreys, excluding Rothes and Tore from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread.
It replaces this earlier thread, Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2011 - Feb 2012.
Without me trawling back do we know whether Rothes has decided to come over for the breeding season or not??

Lynette as Rothes was an LG chick discussion on her travels are on the Tracking Loch Garten Ospreys Thread here.
This thread covers other satellite tracked ospreys like those from Dyfi, those tagged by Roy Dennis and the Scandinavian & N American tagged birds.
However as far as Rothes is concerned we have had no recent information on her (?) (There was a thought when she was photographed last year that "she" may be a "he" but I'll stay with her just now.) Her tag had become unreliable, and there were a few signals from her usual wintering site, the last from memory around Xmas time. Since then we have had no update, and no new locations for her on Google Earth. There are people who have posted on the thread above keeping an eye open for her at the site in France where she spent time last summer.
EDIT - Checked the dates above as I had a moment - the last position for Rothes on GE is 3 March this year when she was on Ilha de Unhocomozinho, her favoured winter location off the coast of Guineau-Bissau.

"23 April 2012
Rothiemurchus flew 318 kms today and reached Spain in the late afternoon - crossing the Straits near Gibraltar"
Lets hope that he heads through Spain and then France this time - the direct route from Northern Spain to SW England across the Bay of Biscay which he has used before is a bit alarming to say the least.
AG : Especially as there is a huge Low pressure system heading for the Bay of Biscay.
Great news. He learns by experience.
Tiger Signature
Kawartha Lakes osprey 54706 has reached Cuba as at 24th April. This is much later than last year when he was almost home on 25th April.
Looks like Rothiemurchus is heading for a crossing of the Bay of Biscay:
"26th April. Rothiemurchus is in Portugal slowly heading north in rain showers."
Hope not Alan, weather not looking too good there, come on Rothiemurchus take a turn and head inland please....

If he is going to tackle the Bay of Biscay again, lets hope he pauses in Northern Spain as he did last year and waits until the Atlantic low has passed.
I pray he stays put in Spain - the winds are against him also and could blow him out into the Atlantic?
