This Topic has been set up to follow the Spring 2012 migration, and summer activities, of satellite tracked ospreys, excluding Rothes and Tore from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread.
It replaces this earlier thread, Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2011 - Feb 2012.

Why are ospreys drawn to that area?
Tiger Signature
I wonder why too? Nothing good has ever happened in that area, so why oh why would he go there. He seemed to be so settled where he was.

Sue I have just spent a couple hours reading about Morven. It is wonderful news to know she is alive and heading back to Scotland for another year. I think I noted that she will be nine years old this year. I hope that Yellow HA returns to unite a successful breeding pair.
Alan Good to know that Einion is fairing well too, particularly after a "short excursion to Leri's last position". Whew!

Shelia Have you read about Logie ?
I will start to read it now! Thanks TIGER.
Edit: Oh, I see where her old mate got his name from!

Logie was a bit of a superstar.
I remember listening to the BBC Radio 4 programme "World on the Move", but hadn't realised the significance of Logie. It was in 2008 I think I really got hooked on to ospreys and read all about the antics of Henry and EJ and the episode of eggs being kicked out.
Where Logie got her name...

Thanks Chloe. Not only RD, but the media followers and the children must all have been absolutely gutted when Logie failed to return. Her story makes very sad reading by the end. But she was a wily bird I feel, with superb migration skills. Her battle across the Straits of Gibraltar in atrocious conditions prove her stamina, and then to have to battle to retain her nest (albeit against Morven) and her mate (Black 6R) makes her one top bird in my eyes.
