Evening/morning!. Hope it's a good week for all. Check the previous blog for the latest adventures of Emma Peel and Steed plus recent posts from the usual suspects. :-)
Emma - what a whirl! Hope daughter's new boyfriend isn't headed back to Afghanistan any time soon.
EDIT: Oh this is interesting, in the following sentence, I typed the name of Germany's controlling political party during the late 30s/early 40s and it was replaced by asterisks! Just watched a great Netflix DVD - The Rape of Europa - about the pillaging of art by the *** and the subsequent repatriation of (most of) it after the war. Really interesting with footage I'd never seen before. After that, even more leftover Txgiving pie and rerun of Bridget Joans's Diary on telly while perusing latest Xmas catalogs. Have a good Sunday!
Margobird, glad to hear that the winds didn`t knock you down!
my photos in flickr
Margobird, glad you had a nice time and stayed upright!
Auntie, I heard you, thank you very much:)))
Terry M very interesting to read your observations about all the flooding. Watched the news earlier and the railway station is up and running which should be some help for all those people. Made me realise again how lucky we are not get flooding where I live in Poole. Having said that though when we came back from Cornwall yesterday one of the main roads into Poole was shut yesterday afternoon was closed due to flooding. Have never know this to happen along this road before but the heavy rain was just much in the end and it just flowed off fields in to the road.
You are right about the uniformed services who offen come under a lot of criticism but what they have managed to do already is just amazing.

A bit late but Happy Birthday Gary. Yes I am glad I stayed upright as well. Cornwall is still beautiful even in the roughest of weather, seas were spectactular but hasten to add I did not get too close.
Good afternoon auntie. I had my husband to cling on so felt reasonably safe but it is a wonder I have not got webbed feet after all the rain.
Lovely photos Alan so nice to see the blue sky and all the flowers.
Weather has turned really chilly here today but at least it has stopped raining and the sun has managed to come out.
Just googled St Andrew, so a bit wiser now! Happy St Andrews Day to all!!!!
Morning all: A quick hallo and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU (and many more) Gary and HAPPY ST. ANDREW'S DAY (well, evening now) to all. Back to read the rest of the chat later. Just got our first e-mail regarding the Gray Whale Count, which is starting February 8! So can EJ et al be far behind? :-))
Just been watching the hummers. One perched on the edge of the nest. Fledging cant be too far off.
Bbbrrrrr!! Very cold here, now, after a chilly day which is getting colder by the minute. We're promised minus temperatures tonight so are feeling it already.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GARY Didn't know it was your birthday, so hope I'm not too late already. If its over, hope it was enjoyable ;o))
TerryM: Thanks for descriptions of conditions in the Lake District: not boring at all, very interesting to hear how things are - a lot of the place names are familiar to us as it is one of our favourite places to visit. Take care on the bikes!
Margobird: So pleased to hear that Annettes helium balloons kept you upright OK, and you enjoyed yourself in Cornwall. Agree, its a great place whatever the weather.
Alan: HAPPY ST ANDREWS DAY to you and anyone else who's Scottish- its not mentioned on my wall calendar which is a bit remiss of them, perhaps I should complain. Enjoy your celebrations, I shall raise a glass of firewater tonight myself in honour of your venerable Saint. (although I do take water in it, or a spot of dry ginger, which you probably think is sacrilege.) Did enjoy your cheerful photos, to remind us of when the sun does shine.
OG: Hope the electrician etc arrived OK today & you are now a bit further down the road with the project.
Annette: You sound as if you have the same Gift Certificate Fairy as in this house- I try to put them in a Safe Place but she finds them & when we finally decide to spend the darned things, they've disappeared! Don't know what to do to keep her happy, she just goes ahead & moves things when we're not looking.
Got very excited this morning, as looked out of the kitchen window & saw a Woodpecker on my feeder. Its the 1st time we've had one in the garden, & must be the result of our joining the RSPB this year & consequently, I bought new feeders & new birdseed mix. Missed taking a photo of him as the camera was upstairs, but will be looking out from now on in anticipation. Also have had Greenfinches in the garden lately, which is a rare thing for us too.
Looked at the Main Blog in vain, then remembered that Richard said it would be some days yet till another report on the Girls, so will have to be patient.
