Weekly Soiree Sunday November 22nd

Starting things off this week with a reminder to check the last of the posts for the week of the 15th so you don't miss any of the excellent information being shared. I hope this week we'll have check-ins from Cirrus, George G and some others who have been quiet but to whom I'm sure we all send our good wishes.

Happy Sunday Everyone!

  • Thanks Lindybird. I think clumps of dog hair can be quite festive if you put some lights around them or make it into Santa's beard!!

  • Look at this, one of the bloggers on the hummer cam.

  • Thanks TerryM. That was a real joy to watch.

  • Ditto, TerryM,  enjoyed the hummingbirds video.  What amazing pics.

Gary:    Will bear your suggestion for Christmas decorations in mind, in December.   Husband says we have 'enough tat already' when I buy yet more things to festoon the house, but I like to think he enjoys it all, really.(!) Someone about six houses down the road from here, already has their house covered in twinkling 'icicles' outside, so don't suppose it will be long before we feel the need to follow suit. One day I may grow up but the children have given up on my ever doing so.

  • If you google russ thompson hummingbirds then you can see more videos.

Annette, now I can imagine your garden with hummer feeders if they're like this man's, brilliant, lucky you.

  • Thanks TerryM, just watched some more videos. They are excellent. So jealous of Annette having these beautiful birds in her garden.

  • Gary - what a small world, you living close to Woodlands School. Glad you liked the link, I haven't had time to look at it properly yet.

  • TerryM: Wow. Feeding from his hand yet!  I'm going to have to spend some time on that one. My husband was watering the plants a few weeks back and said a hummingbird came up and was either trying to drink the water or get a bath!  Our feeders have little perches at the ends so the birds can take a rest - you can always tell the "locals" because they fly right up and take a seat while newbies hover nervously.  Funny - one flew really close over our cat's head the other week and freaked her out.  You can hear the noise their wings make on the Thompson video and a bit on the Orange County one when Mom arrives. Like a giant bee. And that clicking noise is also typical....  Sounds like someone's doing some yard work at the OC house...doesn't seem to phase our fat little friends.

Lindybird: Like Gary,  I was going to suggest that you decorate the dog's fur (spray it green with sparkles or something); but think Gary's suggestion was better.

Went mad at Costco and splurged on two wonderfully extravagant bouquets of flowers only to come home and find that my vases-for-wonderfully-extravagant-bouquets seem to have got misplaced in all the kitchen work.  Now it's driving me crazy that I can't seem to find them. Oh well.

  • Lindybird, according to my OH, you can never have enough tat!!!!

Hope you find those vases Annette

  • Hello to everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to Annette, Gary, Caerann and all in the U.S.!

Alan, thanks for the link to the hummingbird webcam. I'm so enjoying it; what a wonderful cam! I adore hummingbirds.

Lindybird: If Dog sheds hair on the carpet, just tell everyone that it's fur left by Santa's reindeer.

Have loved all the dog pics posted recently (Tweed, Dillon, Buzz, etc). All were wonderful.

Safe journey and good times to everyone traveling this week.
