Alan thanks for all your posts and pleased to see the Blackwater cam is up and running now. Hope the ospreys have better luck than the eagles.
Very many thanks ALAN. What a team effort and such wonderful news. Thank you one and all Dyfi osprey projet
News comes today of what may become two new nests this year in the shape of two new platforms that were erected in France in February. They are in the Medoc region, to the north of Bordeaux, just a few kilometres to the west of the sturgeon caviar farm, where Rothes hangs out. They are sited on the spring migration track north, that we are all familiar with, which is probably the most popular route for UK birds to use on their way back here. The two artificial nests in two protected areas will be managed by the NFB (ONF), the National Board of Forestry and the project has been developed by various groups, including the LPO and the Osprey Observatory in the Forest of Orleans.

And this news summary from last year will be of interest. It could be that 2012 will see a lot more osprey related news from France.

Thanks JSB. They are certainly very early compared to our ospreys. It will be interesting to see when the first egg is laid.
Some news about the live streaming from Dyfi:
"The Dyfi Osprey Project will be opening on 30th March. Cameras are being installed later this week/early next so by this time next week we should know how well they are working. Live streaming will not be ordered until they have a pair on the nest and will take approx two weeks to set up, so assuming the birds return early April live streaming should be turned on in time to see egg laying. "
Dunedin osprey shows us her eggs. It's very jerky :-( And someone was trying to gainsay me over centralising the view, grrr.

"Thats 2 new HD cameras up on osprey nests ready for the season :-)"
