I think one bird we should keep a close eye on in a couple of weeks is BEATRICE.
She is early to set off North and indications from previous years have seen her leave her wintering grounds in
2009 - 6 March.
2010 - 1 March
2011 - 4 March
She does like a stop over though on R Ardour after only a couple of days migration. At the moment she is very well settled as she has been all winter on the R Guadiaro.
She well may be the first of our UK Sat Tracked birds to show any movement although the Rutland birds added 2011 may show an early interest.
Rothiemurchus and Rothes timing will be most interesting having already made that first late journey last year. Will their return be consitant with the adults this year or will they leave it later somewhere in between those of the adults and last years departure. Are they in a rush this season to gain a mate or not.
Keith In the case of Rothes she has has got to write into one of those advice columns saying "I keep thinking I am a boy even though Roy Dennis said I was a girl......what sort of mate should I look for?"
