Dunedin male:
The Dunedin pair had a setback with the nest being turmoiled (!) by high winds - they've done repairs but not that enthusiastically - no doubt because of what Alan has pointed out.
The cam at Seili Island is down at the mo, but they say "there will hopefully be a more reliable and new camera next spring with video transmission."

edit: too late and missed the changeover and not sure whether the female is having a break now
Another visitor to the Dunedin perch:
I haven't been watching Dunedin Osprey Cam much for a couple of days, but just now I looked in, there was just a night-time view of the nest - didn't touch it, went to look at something else and when I went back I got this:
I feel like a sinner :o
The Lake District Osprey Project team look forward to 2012.
A New Dawn
Remember there is an issue with the nest at Bassenthwaite. A storm last September, after the ospreys had left, took out the whole top of the tree containing the nest the ospreys had built and used in the 2011 season. Will the team build a replacement nest in the tree, where it wasn't possible to have a webcam or ring the chicks? Or hope that the ospreys will go back to the nest they used up to 2010, which is much better for viewing and access?
If they cannot get near to the tree it is hard to see how they can rebuild it! Better leave it to nature!
Or maybe build a new nest in a better tree.
Interestingly Spey the Roy Dennis tracked juvenile from 2010 came from a nest which was built as a result of an old inaccesible nest being broken in the snow. Roy Dennis built a new nest 50 metres away and the ospreys adopted it.
Tiger Signature
Well whatever they do, it is all down to Mrs No-ring at the end of the day. She who shall be obeyed :)
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
The last I heard they were considering constructing a nest platform somewhere on the marsh, nothing definite though. But as we know, Mrs No-ring certainly knows what she likes - or not! She could go anywhere, so not very helpful for siting of cameras.
