Weekly Chat, Sunday October 18, 2009

Hi everyone. If you didn't catch pages 20 and 21 of last week's blog, check them out for lovely photos of Woodpigeons, sunset at Solway, and a wonderful shot of 10 puppies!!  And, of course, interesting and funny posts from fellow bloggers.

Lindybird. Was very glad to read your comment this morning. And of course, since the beginning of time : ) if there is a mixed household ( dogs AND cats) the cat must be the   top dog. :)    !!

My, a lot of you sit up late these cold dark nights!!

    TerryM – adorable Leni!

Annette – Lightning is SO pristine! And cuddly

Well, what with bridges and roses  - I thought all the bridges were in Madison county  Diane ( :) your comment reminded me of the Meryl Streep/Cllint Eastwood film). Do your white roses have fragrance Annette?

and myriads of wildlife  with no right to be where they are. Wattle, I always rail on about the wretched Victorians in this nation introducing creatures that have no right to be here – like grey squirrels (I know they are cute and I feed my own local grey) who have devastated our native reds. They thought they were so ‘clever’ !!! and I could punch the lights out of them.

OK Diane, that’s one of my soap boxes ! -  off it now.

This is my last day of ‘survival’ – my central heating goes on as I go to bed tonight (ready for Saturday morning). Rejoice with me!! :)

Busy day today so may not get another chance to  post -  hope all your individual days go well.

  • Cirrus: The movie company almost decided to film The Bridges of Madison County here. At the last minute, they switched to the other site. :-)   So glad that you can now use your central heat!!! Yay!!!

  • Annette - beautiful lazy cat - looks like a polar bear!!!!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • It certainly does!  Does she ever fall out of that bed when she changes position?  Tiger likes a bed big enough to stretch out in if he gets warm.

Our TV news had a story today about the polar bear they relocated to the Scottish highlands because it was suffering depression from too much wet weather.  So it seems that 'feel good' news concerning animals do tend to make international news. ;-)

    Smiles, Jan.

  • Hi, all. The Aurora (Northern Lights) Cam at the Hotel Ranga has been adjusted skyward, and it shows much more sky now. Some posters on the other site reported that the light is beginning to turn green, and they are hoping that the aurora borealis will be in view over the coming nights. Thought I would pass along the news. (Don't blame me if you see only a black screen! LOL) http://www.thewebbroadcastingcorporation.com/index.php

  • orininal goldfinch apology accepted but realy no need to apologize

  • hi cirrus my georgous cat is called tigger and my westie is called casper we brought him back from a holiday in scotland 14 years ago when we go back to scotland we always taking with us he loves it, theres a park just off the river in inverness and he loves that as soon as we get out of the car and he spots it he goes mad and can't wait to cross the road to get on it though we haven't been for about three or four years so hoping to get again next year and while there pop into loch garten again i expect things there will have changed a bit since we were last there

  • Ensuite Day 4 - was only half a day!  Electrician came quite early and laid all his wires. This was very exciting for OH who likes electricals - and promising for me because he now wants to engage same guy to do some work which he had been going to do himself "when he gets around to it!).  Plasterer came look see as promised and confirmed next Tuesday.  Joiner brought him, and stayed on to "mate" for Sparky - at one time those two plus OH were all up in the roofspace looking at connections.  Both will be back after Plasterer has skimmed and also Tiler tiled (no date mentioned for him yet).  So we have an undisturbed weekend, and  a day off Monday - which suits well because we have a new cleaner starting that day and our bedroom will be clear to be cleaned!

Posting photos has set me browsing - digital back to 1998 - and reminiscing.   Realised what great places we have seen, and appreciated our own previous garden too.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG, lots of activity. That is the main thing I find with these guys!! Good stuff

Annette, love Lightning:) He looks a good sized cat (and not in a nasty way!)

Diane, that sounds an interesting festival. We have some covered bridges in CT but not enough for a festival! That doesn't sound so good with the flu though. Best to stay away from the area if you aren't going to look at the bridges.

  • Gary and Cirrus - Leni is a character and adorable and you're both very perspicacious to realise that (crumbs, there's a word for a Friday afternoon, hope I spelt it right!)

Annette - I love BIG cats like Lightning, some of mine have been big. An adult cat we thought was a Maine Coon adopted us for a couple of years and she used to come upstairs and lie on me when I was in bed, making it quite hard to breathe.  I might have a picture of her, can anyone confirm breed? This is Queenie. It's scanned so a bit fuzzy.
