In response to the demand for an osprey chat thread I am now making one for September 2011. I guess there will be quite a bit to chat about given the success of the extension thread.

Oh Chloe, that made me laugh out loud!
love those two links. There are good people out there :o)
[/quote]Thanks for the links Chloe Has anything been heard as to how he got on?
patily I think it is unlikely that Olly will ever be heard of again. He is not tracked or anything so he is unlikely to be recognised again unless he was dead. Not an outcome we would desire.
Does anybody know, please, how many nest sites there are at Rutland?

Thanks moffer..I've learnt something yet again ;-)
It's taken ages to catch up, what with all the very welcome diversions, thank you everyone for the links and info.
I did not appreciate the vet persisting in calling Olly "it" - how could he be so detached and scientific?! >:( (I know, I should take a lesson from him ;-) )
I did appreciate the fisherman's sincere "chuffedness", it was very touching.
Some ospreys are showing how it should be done, others (no names mentioned) need to get a move on, and in the right direction, to save our angst!!!
IMAGICAT
At the time of Olly's (female) rescue and release, I did pass her ring number to RD, so it is on record. Also the people who looked after Olly will have a record of it. It is one of the happiest rescue stories that I have heard. The fisherman is so 100% genuine and gives a good account of himself.
