In response to the demand for an osprey chat thread I am now making one for September 2011. I guess there will be quite a bit to chat about given the success of the extension thread.

I didn't like to read in the report that he is slowing down. Obviously he can't keep up the same speed for the full flight and the wind could play it's part.
I think that people tend to forget that Deshar is the world record holder in both time and distance for a juvenile tagged osprey.
I only just saw this,
16.25 - NEWS OF EINION..Yesterday he set off from the Plymouth area and skirted around the Brittany coast before roosting for the night south of Brest. He set off this morning very early but has not hugged the coast - at the moment he's right in the middle of the Bay of Biscay over 100 miles away from land. At his current headng he will hopefully make landfall near Santander which is 110 miles south of him. A bit worringly, his speed has dropped from 30mph to 14mph. More info when we get it, Ems
Go Einion, fly strong and safe!

Looks as if Bynack is sending us a message, "I'm going this way" says the arrow. LOL
and Tore is making lines not unlike the ones at Loch Garten.
I will never forget Deshar!!!
Not quite sure I like the direction of Bynack's arrow - a bit further west might be preferable!

Yes it is amazing that people remember him as a failure but in some ways he was absolutely remarkable.
Nearly there
20.05 - GREAT NEWS - Einion is just seven miles from the northern Spanish coast. He'll be able to see and smell land from here, fantastic! The data will stop again soon for another two days but hopefully we'll get one more data position before that happens, hopefully on Spanish soil. Excellent news - more as we get it, Ems
Really wonderful news! :)
