Daily Update (LG Nest) Sunday, 21st August 2011

So the season extends by yet another day. One wonders if Bynack or Odin will fly away today. The only way to find out is to follow the thread.

There were 316 posts made yesterday.

How long will we have to wonder where Tore is? Is she in France? Is she heading for the sturgeon farm?

  • This photo is to compliment Mary's previous shot.

and this is the last photo that I got of Bynack this morning.

  • Like it ALEX!  But I think his farewell might have been his brief visit to the nest at 11.31hr today.  Just popped in to say goodbye!  And Odin was just checking that he really has gone by tempting him with a fish on the dead tree.

  • Some of the photos on the wide cam this year were really brilliant.  The b&w enhances the colour definition.  Beautiful photos MOFFER.  Personally, I think the wet osprey was Bynack, but what do I know, as does it really matter to us?  They are just beautiful birds, and I am going to miss them.  I have been totally engrossed all season, to the detriment of a lot of things at home - I have been told!  But it has been truly wonderful.  I have been looking back, and it was in 2007 that I started on the slippery slop of reading about it.  By 2008 I had found the web (I was on holiday near Plockton and the house we had rented had wifi!!) and that was it.  But this year has been a really bad addiction!  Good thing I'm retired.

  • Hello and what a WONDERFUL lot of posters you are. A VERY BIG THANK YOU  TO YOU ALL.

Marvellous captures  - simply GREAT videos. Awards go to SCYLLA and MOFFER there. How I enjoyed just listening to Bynack - (never thought I'd be saying  that LoL   :)

MARY, how clever of you and I most certainly second your most  lovely 'Thank You '

A new Blog from  Staff - and hopefully GE update by tomorrow evening.  My prediction is :  Tore is the south of France.  Ha ha ha.

Seriously though, I really am so appreciatve of you all - great information also - forgive me if I don't tack back again to name everyone. i've had computer problems which are just weired. My clock suddenly decided it was June and not August !!!  I can't open Word and I don't want to re'start until I've posted this little note.

It's just great that our Hero has been around most of the day even if he hasn't been sharing his fish. Not much sign of our little lad but he has been spotted . Well , then, I'm going to believe he's doing his best to get his little act in to gear and try fishing for himself.

Someone was asking about the 'sat nav' packs. I'll just add my pennyworth - yes, the material they are made of is designed to 'rot' in a few years time (forget how mnay years - three or four - perhaps Chloe or Alan or Tiger can set me right there)

And  here we all awaiting the next episode !!

Hope to see you all again soon - going to do a re start now. But if I'm not back - it's cos of computer problems.

  • PS  thanks SO much MOfFER for the most recent photo of Byanck

  • PPS  Is 09.12 the very last time Bynack was spotted please?  OK , really am going to do a re start now

  • Good luck CIRRUS!  Yes the sat nat packs are sewn on with cotton or a biogradable fabric that will rot in two to three years and the pack will just fall off - I think.

  • CIRRUS I believe he came to the nest at 11.31 shrieking in his usual way.  He stood on the rhs as usual, and then flew.  That is when I think he left us for migration.  No sign or sound since, at least while I've been around - and I've been around on and off a lot....!  Well, why wouldn't I!

  • I too think that Bynack could have bid us farewell. He's 89 days old today. I really think that if he were around, that he would have been begging for food from Odin. We will see if he appears as normal first thing in the morning. If you have gone Bynack, gods speed and fly high and safe.

  • Oh don't MOFFER, you'll have me in tears!
