I offered to start this Topic before my own trip to Scotland, so thought I'd better get on with it.
The idea - somewhere to bring together people's accounts of their visits, photos, useful information, questions from those planning a trip - a sort of scrapbook really.
I still need to write up my own visit, but anyone is welcome to post material or links here.

lmac, I am supposed to be in bed and so look forward to your pics of LG. :)
These photos are great! Just wish I was back now!
Here are some photos.......maybe can't seem to get this right
Yipee got it right finally.. here is one of my favourites this was taken on 20th July at Loch Garten
Somewhere else that I love is Loch an Eilean and this is it covered in frost and ice. This was Xmas 2010 and you could walk right out to the island and people were cycling out to it so this ruin is normally an island in the middle of a vast expanse of water
My dream is to see Ospreys nesting again on the ruins in my lifetime!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Lovely stuff Lmac.. Yes OG.. Some day and I think soon...we will see our birds on the ruins of the castle..
All for one and one for all.
OG - It is such a beautiful spot. I walk round many times a year but every Boxing Day without fail it is the place that we go. Ospreys would be so safe there and almost impossible to get to. Why did they stop nesting there? I know in winter you can walk out if it is cold enough but surely quite difficult at other times.
Lmac Have you read "Scottish Ospreys" by Philip Bown Loch an Eilean features heavily in chapter 2.
