Morning all: Happy new week.

MARGO: Welcome back!! :-))

Wendy: Thanks for keeping us up to date on Margo's Big Adventure.

dibnlib: How nice to bump into Margo et al.

Lindybird: Yes, June Gloom highly predictable; if you know of anyone planning to come to California in June, tell them not to expect beach weather, but can be pretty hot away from the coast. Re new dark countertops that don't show dirt, have been horrified to find globs of dried up sticky stuff on ours; now have to bend over and catch the light on the surface to see what needs to be scrubbed.

Diane: Only four feet from a deer? Wow. Pretty impressive, especially after looking at the pix! Maybe whistle a happy tune or put bells on your shoes next time?

Jay-Me: Vacation time sounds nice and relaxing!

Lynette: Thanks for clarifying which part of you is hurting! :-) Nice that all your furniture is finally set up; now enjoy it.

OK, off to fix dinner; back later.

  • Sheila - beautiful photos of the Inverpolly area, we have been going up there for years and years, and I must say that road up to Inverkirkaig is not for the fainthearted.   Suilven is an amazing mountain, viewed from Lochinver it looks like the sugarloaf mountain.    Hope the weather is better if you decide to go back there.

OG - Those biscuits have my mouth watering...   For some reason the Central Region has been hit very badly the last two winters, I heard that Ayrshire hardly had any snow at all.     Your Siskin photos are fab, I have only ever had Siskins once at my feeder and that was more than 20 years ago in another place to where I live now.

Annette - Thanks re the photos.   I dont suppose you get much snow where you are at any time of the year.

Lynette - Thanks to you too.  Yes I know that road well, out towards Carronbridge goes on towards the Carron Dam and Fintry.

Hope I havent missed anybody out, I am new to all of this, if I have,  please excuse my inexperience.

  • Lynette - Have a great time in France.

Tiger - Wot's this I'm sposed to photog? Annie-lemons? My camera is on exhaustion leave after recent trip LOL

Heather - Thanks for the Margo update. Please pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Terry, Mary & Sheila - Terrific pics. Makes me want to travel again (almost).

Diane - Meant to say, days ago, we had a saying "It scared the living daylights out of me".

Friday Smiles - some of the Berlin bears I saw. The bear is the symbol of Berlin - it appears on their coat of arms.

  • Don't know why the bear is so big - I did shrink the file. And where did the others go?

EDIT - deleted pic. Will try again

  • Evening all:

Sheila: What a beautiful place - those cliffs look truly formidable and the views are spectacular. do like the cloud formations in the final pic. How far were you from a village/town?

OG: Hope your replacement cleaning lady works out and would be nice if she's a local. Ooooh! Those cookies look yummy - and so low-calorie! :-)  Thank you. Yes, grandson had a root canal and some fillings, but for a kid who isn't big on flossing, things weren't as bad as we expected. He still has to get his wisdom teeth out, especially the bottom two.

Lynette: Amazing that people forget those kinds of appointments, and especially frustrating when you have to rearrange the house. Do hope the weather isn't too bad for your French trip; sounds like you know the area a bit, which is always nice. I see you'll be cooking; do hope you can get out to some local bistro for a break!  Hmmm, yes, the trench. Was still tired for whizzing about yesterday so spent the afternoon in the hammock while OH toiled in the trenches!

Mary: Hands off those cookies! OG made them for me. :-)   Don't worry about missing some of us from time to time - it can get really hard to keep track of everyone even when you read and enjoy all the posts.

AQ: Not quite sure what to make of those Berlin bears....

OK. Another early night for me tonight (well, in a bit). Take care all.

  • AQ- Interesting photos of these unusual bears, very colourful, its nice to see that there is no graffitti on them.

    Thanks Annette

  • Hello all! Sorry for the lack of posting lately. Just the same ol’ same ol’ : been way too busy at work hence had too little energy to switch my brain to English-mode LOL Also trying to be outdoors and enjoy the amount of light after the long winter. Year’s longest day has gone but we still have quite long days - today sunrise was at 3.46 am and will set at 11.02 pm, totally 19hrs and 16 min daylight and I just love it. Hope you all are OK and hope Margo will be well soon and tell us all about her stay at LG. Take care everyone!

  • Morning, Everyone:   Wow, you've all been busy with the photos!  Lots of super pics, Everyone.  Shall go back and look at them more slowly, later. Loved the bears, AQ!  and great to hear from auntie - take care of yourself, and enjoy all that daylight.

Went to a 'posh' farm shop and Cafe yesterday, with Friend.  The meat was unbelievable, and so were the prices!  Bought some lamb burgers, which we ate last night (yum) and a tray of petunias, to fill in the last of our outdoor tubs.  The car park was full of extremely pricey cars, too, so our little Yaris looked lost amongst them. We had lunch:  Liver pate for my Friend, and I had Honey Roast Ham sandwich with salad. These came on what looked like a tray, which seems to be the thing these days.  Ate all of mine, but Friend left some of hers as there was so much on her plate. It was all delicious.

Rushing off now to tidy up as our Son & Wife call in today, with Sweetpea, on their way, in a flying visit,  to a wedding in Glasgow tomorrow. Hope you all get a bit of sunshine today!

EDIT:  Not got time now to alter this, but it sounds like we also ate the petunias.......

  • Good Morning Everyone. Blue sky and sunshine this morning but rain tonight.

OG, We used to see siskin, in a previous house, when they were passing through. We could hear them before they arrived on the feeders. They were so noisy. Those biscuits look so delicious but I see Annette is being so possessive about them. We do try to save as much rainwater as we can but the water butts do seem to empty so fast when there is no rain.

OK, Tiger, who put Chloe's car, which you had to retrieve, in the ditch to begin with.

Heather, thanks for the update on Margo. Please pass on my best wishes to her.

AQ, Very colourful bears. I have seen similar, in other cities, of various creatures.

Diane, I have heard that 'saying' in this country.

Linda, Enjoy your brief visit from your Son, his Wife and of course, Sweetpea.

    Thanks for all your photographs.

  • Nothing much happening here – had a good night’s sleep, no weather today, only plan is to send OH to Tesco!  British Pipe Band Championships are held here tomorrow (second year of three that Annan is hosting it), so avoiding town due to parking restrictions and crowds off the campsite.  Similar next week, when Annan has its annual Riding of the Marches.

Bird report: a very Goldfinch morning today – eight or more, including young – plus Siskin pair  - and all the usual suspects.

Lynette – sorry the shelf builder let you down – it would have been so good to get all the work finished before your holiday next week.  Have a wonderful time in France – and make sure you have some meals out!

Mary – we are on the Solway coast, so hardly get any snow – until the last two winters, and then the low temperature and resulting ice were more of a problem than the actual snowfall.  It can be very different only a few miles inland, where some villages regularly get isolated.  It’s almost impossible to mention everyone in replies, so don’t worry about missing anyone out.

AQ – pleased you are enjoying normal winter weather now.  Strange bears – we have a pottery nearby which makes similar large multi-coloured cows - weird.

Annette – the biscuits are full of butter and sugar – and very “more-ish”.  Sorry Grandson needs his wisdom teeth out – I’ve kept my bottom ones because they are so impacted in my jaw that nobody has ever seen them!

Auntie – good to hear from you again.  Glad to see you are enjoying your long summer days – don’t work too hard!

Lindy – I love browsing farm shops and the local meat does look appetising – although I think it’s like everywhere else – seeing it displayed in quantity looks so much better than two little pieces in the kitchen!  It’s the same in house wares shops: shelves with displays of towels in a vast colour range and all the sizes always catch my eye, but you buy them and take them home and they just hang there like any old damp cloth!  I hope you enjoy SweetPea’s visit today – are they calling in on the way home from the wedding as well?

Brenda – good to see you, as usual.  I hope your rain tonight will be enough to help the garden – but enjoy your sunny day first.  It is “white cloud” here, but it is only filtering the sunlight, so it is reasonably bright.  Was it your SiL who was recently giving cause for concern?  How is she now?

Finished coffee so ought to get moving and get productive!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
