Morning all: Happy new week.
MARGO: Welcome back!! :-))
Wendy: Thanks for keeping us up to date on Margo's Big Adventure.
dibnlib: How nice to bump into Margo et al.
Lindybird: Yes, June Gloom highly predictable; if you know of anyone planning to come to California in June, tell them not to expect beach weather, but can be pretty hot away from the coast. Re new dark countertops that don't show dirt, have been horrified to find globs of dried up sticky stuff on ours; now have to bend over and catch the light on the surface to see what needs to be scrubbed.
Diane: Only four feet from a deer? Wow. Pretty impressive, especially after looking at the pix! Maybe whistle a happy tune or put bells on your shoes next time?
Jay-Me: Vacation time sounds nice and relaxing!
Lynette: Thanks for clarifying which part of you is hurting! :-) Nice that all your furniture is finally set up; now enjoy it.
OK, off to fix dinner; back later.
OG Like the siskin. Not sure I have seen one of these before.
Lindy nice pictures of the swans. No cygnets? Also like the coots nest.
Lynette Sadly I may not see Poppy until she is a lot bigger. Yes the war with the residents and Pale Male goes on and on.
I photographed this rascal on Sunday. Apparently he is quite violent. Maybe I know now why we only kept hens when I was growing up.
Since it is the 23rd of June, I have a picture of a cockerel and we have a Californian connection I am reminded of the classic song Spancil Hill.
This I did not know until now.
Tiger Signature
Tiger, had you been looking you would have seen lots of Siskins on the feeders at Dyfi. I took lots of pics of them, along with the Redpolls and Nuthatches!
Nice pic of the fierce cockerel :)

ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
ChloeB I was too preoccupied with osprey chicks not hatching and then hatching! :) Shoving cars out of ditches too! :)
The new visitor centre at Blackwater. Neat.
LOL so you were! Especially the shoving cars out of ditches! :)
Wow! The new Blackwater Centre is a bit posh isn't it?
Evening all: Very busy but productive day here. Lots of driving. Didn't get home til almost 7 and ended up eating what OH had left on his dinner plate! No doubt will be heading for the refrigerator before I go to bed. AQ: Interesting that Christchurch suburbs may be "abandoned" after the earthquake. Wonder where folks might start afresh given that earthquake faults ring the entire Pacific Ocean.... I see Tiger has a photo project for you (tracking the analemma down under!) :-) Tiger: Fascinating explanation about the analemma (now where did I put that gnomon!). Currently watching Nova (a science program) about the Columbia shuttle disaster. Poor Opal - little does she know.... Opal and Poppy both lovely names. Very handsome cockerel there; no chance of being woken up from dreams (of anywhere) by one of those around here. Lindybird: I remember standing outside my sister's house at 9:30 p.m. one summer evening during a visit and being amazed at how light it was. Love the pix of Buzz and the (unimpressed) swans. jsb: Hope you've got your oven and Scottish Power under control. When we had our new oven installed, I'd set the temp then forget to hit the "Start" button (which I didn't have on the old gas oven). We had lots of late dinners until I got used to it! Alan: Had to smile at thought of Sainsbury staff leaping into action at the sight of you and Lady P coming through the door :-) OG: There you go, baking cakes! When are you having us over for dinner? Glad you're feeling better. Bridget sounds familiar - will have to check with my sis. Lovely pix of your feathered friends. patriciat: "Yobs" know no borders; you can find them in every nation, ready to throw insults, rocks, bombs at others with different religions, skin color, politics, etc. Seems every new generation produces its quota. Stay safe. Diane: Hope your wasps are behaving. Did you watch Nature tonight? Marvellous program on Victoria Falls and the critters who call the area home. Fabulous photography. Lynette: Where are you going to in France? Lucky you!

Sorry to have prattled on - thanks everyone for pix and photos. Off to bed soon. Take care all.
Morning, Everyone. Dull here but not cold.
Lovely Cockerel pic from Tiger, and more Siskins from Chloe. I'm looking back in a minute to see the Pale Male pics which Tiger mentioned.
Annette: You do seem to keep yourself busy! All that rushing around.
Lynette: Have a great holiday. Hope the weather is good - I know that a lot of the time, they get the same weather as here, and its been rather wet lately. Your house sounds as if its going to be really tidy and neat, when its all finished!
Re the names of our ancestors - I had a Great Aunt, who we called "Aunt Mog" - I thought nothing of this when I was small, but it was because her real name was Maud and some of the younger members of her family at the time couldn't pronounce it, and it stuck. (she was a real character, and lived to a great age, still watching the snooker on TV and criticising the Government of the day over every decision.)
Good to see on TV this morning, that there is a move to ban circus animals in the UK, altogether.
Off out today with my Friend - we havn't decided where to go yet, but it will involve a cup of tea at some stage. Have a Good Day!
Morning all,
Linda : Thanks for all the pics of Buzz and the swans. I expect they were not too pleased at a large dog jumping in their lake.
OG : Thanks for the pic of the finches and siskin. I have never seen a siskin around here but we did see them in Wales.
Tiger : Thanks for the cockerel pic. More and more people seem to be keeping hens even in quite small gardens.
Lynette : I hope you have a great holiday although I did notice there was a lot of rain in northern France yesterday.
Thanks to everyone else for the chat.
Sunny here at the moment and a bit breezy. Possible showers later but the forecast for Wimbledon is better than yesterday. Andy Murray won but he was not really all that convincing. Not sure what is planned for the day. I will hav to consult The Oracle.
Alan I am not surprised that more and more people are keeping hens. The eggs actually taste like eggs used to. Not like these bland supermarket offerings.
Good Morning ALL, The sun is shining but heavy thundery showers forecast. Off to the garden centre shortly to look for a new water butt to replace one of our smaller ones. W e will probably have something to eat there as well.
Linda, Lovely pics of the swans and scenery. Buzz is definitely a water dog. I once saw a dog, which was attacked by swans because it was too near their nest.
Tiger, Super cockerel photograph and thanks for the link to the latest Pale Male pictures.
Lynette, Great that all your work in the house will be completed before you go on holiday.
OG, Excellent photographs, as always.
jsb, Glad you were able to sort out your SP problems and you were able to finally enjoy your lunch. I am sure we have all done something similar.
OH tells me that we sould be leaving, as he feels like a walk along the seafront before the garden centre.
