Things all peaceful on the nest. It's amazing what a late night fish does to settle Osprey chicks :-)

Great video Scylla was a right tug of war with that fish.

OMG That video is so funny!! I am laughing out loud. Storm being dragged along on the tail of the fish. I loved how EJ shook her tail feathers a few times after that fiasco .
I had to watch it again!! That one is priceless!

I haven't been able to make out exactly what was caught up.

LOL!!! I'm not sure which it was either. I thought possibly Star, but Storm catching up fast. At least s/he got first innings at breakfast - deserved it after having it's tail pulled by mum!
Storm has lighter head markings. The fish was caught on Storms tail. If you look closely you can see Storm's tail is under the fish as EJ is dragging it. As Storm was pushed face down it's tail went up and caught the fish . It wasn't released until Storm totally fell forward.
I think the fish was still alive. Odin is supposed to eat the head and kill it before he brings it to the nest so a flopping fish doesn't hurt the chicks. However, he often forgets that part . He is still a trainee
Hello everyone - super posts and pics and cracking videos, Scylla . I felt a little low yesterday so it was brilliant to read of a really late fish yesterday this morning.
And thanks so much for your large lettering Scylla about the late late fish. I was cold and feeling a litttle upset about the family rations yesterday so had a hot bath, got in to a hot bed (heated mattress) and got rid of Friday hoping Saturday would be better.
Hi Barbara, Odin eats the head as his portion , not just to kill it . If he's not in need of food he just brings the whole fish to the nest - this is quite usual with male Ospreys, . The head is the most nutritious part (Richard says) . Hope you don't mind me saying that :)
I'm hoping for a much better Saturday but really need my first coffee of the day so see you all later.
Morning all ... thanks for pics and posts .. and news of the late night and early morning fish!
