Almost forgot about starting this one! Off to read last few posts of last week.
Lovely pic of Bobbie, Alicat - Have a great holiday, and hope that the weather remains good for you !
patricia: Well Done to Fly & Tweed! You must have a lot of patience, to keep them on the straight and narrow.
re the sheets debate - I agree, I forgot that the House of Bath are an excellent place to buy this kind of thing. Can recommend them, too.
At lunchtime, my OH was reading the paper in the conservatory, and I was inspecting the garden, when we hear a sort of 'bumph' noise - a baby Sparrow had flown in through the open conservatory doors! We cornered it by his going in from one side, in a pincer movement, and I on the other - I caught it on the windowsill. Held it in my hand for a few seconds - how very soft, delicate and light it was! Could feel its little heart beating nineteen to the dozen against my palm. I didn't want to frighten it any more than necessary, in case it died of fright, so I let it go just outside & it soared away into a nearby tree. What an experience. Have not had a bird in my hand since I was young, when we used to try and 'rescue' them when injured on the ground. They always died later, though, probably of shock.
Certainly must be in their genes margobird, sadly I never met my MIL but I am reliably informed that even well into her eighties she was up at 5.30 each morning, making porridge and then starting the breadmaking and then the soup and then the oatcakes and the (scotch) pancakes etc etc I have a griddle or girdle whatever you want to call it. I can't quite remember where it is. My poor OH. He is so deprived. - :-(((
It is the LAZY blogger back again. Thanks for chat and super photo's of baby birds and the odd puppy.
Amazing weather today yesterday was hot but windy today has been above 20 and no wind and fantastic clear skies.
Osprey over the local golf course when I went to get daily paper. Too hot to do much in the garden so did 2 walks...one over the hills at the back of our cottage too hot for many birds but did spook a deer who did stay around for a while to stare me out. The second was down by the river and surprised to find it really low.
Margo the countdown is nearly down to days instead of weeks....we should have an ineresting chat about OH's and age gaps:-))))
Margobird and Wendyb - Just want to say that I am here in Inverness and if either of you need anything to support Margo's stay at LG - please get in touch. Only problem is, I don't want to put my phone or email out here in the public domain - how do I get around that?
HeatherB Messages are now private as on face book...that was one of the good things about the upgrade.
I can't speak for Margo but I have the to and from the airport covered, also doing her supermarket shop as I am sure that will be the last thing she will want to when she arrives. I am sure she might need shopping mid week but I think a lot depends on who else is volunteering that week and her shifts. I did say I would take her sightseeing at some stage.
She is so excited I think she would love to meet any of us.
Thanks Wendy. I knew that you were doing the shopping and transport for Margo, just wanted to be there as a back up if either of you needed. Thanks for the info re messages, I am a bit of a technophobe, sadly. It would be great if OH would take me to LG (can't drive) and to meet Margo would be lovely. Margo - have a wonderful time at LG!
just noticed that Bobbie has losted two of her bottom teeth they were there this afternoon but not now

Hot and dusty! Not much to see at Caerlaverock – but I found this quite a relaxing sight – “Lazing on a Sunny Afternoon”!
Ospreys there are fine – did anyone see the four of them sharing a very large flounder this afternoon? The Barn Owls which are in the roof above the visitor centre also look good – they have them on CCTV. The poor old Whooper who didn’t take off with the others was found dead – they are sending her body for a P M.
Plenty of Ducks around – mostly Mallards – and Mute Swans.
Lots of twittering and calling in the trees of the avenue, where it was nicely cool and shady, and wildflower meadow was good too.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hi folks, first time on today, was mostly on the other thread.
Patriacat glad your two dogs managed to get rosettes in the agility class but sorry to learn one of them has an injury so will need to take it easy.
Alicat - lovely picture of Bobbie.
Annette - envy your view from your hammock - don't forget to wear your hardhat. The house and grounds sound great to visit.
Some pics of African wildlife taken around teatime here but an hour on there.warthogs drinking and leaving the pondImpala at the watering hole.
