Almost forgot about starting this one! Off to read last few posts of last week.
Good morning another glorious day and getting very warm. Mu constant companion Billie is spread out on my mouse mat again fast asleep and down't seem to mind me moving it about.
Annette the gig my OH went to is a group called The Fall and they are absolutely awful, not my taste at all. I suppose you could say it is head banking music? at it's worst so there there is a lot o jumpng up and down and general rowdiness. He usually comes back with bruises and cuts but have not seen anything like the latest. Dreadful bruising which is now half way up his leg. Don't know how ne managed to walk for 2 hours when he missed his station. He was so very tired when he came in from work last night. Thanks for the link to the duck story, couldn't get it from that so searched Google for it. Ducks do make their nests in the strangest places at times and often not near any water. Nice view from your hammock of fresh organges and thanks for your other photos roo.
OG love the name Bebble Bum, and good capture as well. Thanks also for more stunning photos of your garden birds, just beautiful and so very clear. You really do well in the photography department, always a pleasure to see. Glad you had a temporary cleaner and she did a good job. Looks as though you have managed to save your runner beans, nothing tastes better than runner beans picked fresh from the garden. My OH did sit with his feet up bless him. He fell asleep after his dinner and was in bed before 10 which is most unusual for him, doesn't go until 12.00 as a rule. Had a good 8 hours sleep and feels well refreshed this morning. His ankle and leg look very painful but the buiding is coming out so don't think he has done anything too serious.
DjoanS hope you are coping with the heat and drinking plenty, I drink an awful lot water every day whatever the weather as i have done since I was a child. Do enjoy your day at Caerlaverock tomorrow.
Lynette lovely capture of the barn owl chicks, like little balls of fluff.
BrendaH hope you managed to shopping expedition over fairly quickly, definitely not what you want to be doing in this nice weather.
Alan I will be watching Andy Murray play but think he will have his hands full with Nadal. He will have to start well and not let Nadal get ahead by losing his early service games. I know he has beaten Nadal several times but he has seemed to struggle a bit this week and for this reason think Nadal will win. Of course I would love to be proved wrong.
Lindybird if you are running out of things to wash could I send my LG washing up to you, only joking of course. I am a bit like that when the weather is fine and actually go looking for washing. Have washed some heavy cardigans this morning which I want for LG in case of cold weather up there.
Have a good day all and enjoy the sunshine.
Margobird
Thanks ALICAT glad you are all ready to go. Have a great time.
Margobird - I am lost for words. I had this picture of your OH - well, suffice to say it didn't include headbanging music and jumping up and down!!!!!!!! He must be very fit, I sprained my knee yesterday and all I was doing was trying to kick next door's gate open (gate stiff, hands full)
Good afternoon HeatherB I had better explain about my OH. He is younger than me by a few years and still has a lot more energy than I do, hence he goes to gigs like this, says he will still be going when he is 80. Apparently sustaining some sort of injury is par for the course at these gigs.
Sorry about your knee, bet that is painful. I always say we ladies could do with 3 arms. take care and give it a bit of a rest.
Greetings all. Have only had a little time to read posts but no time to respond. After a competition on Saturday (both Fly and Tweed had rosettes) we had an agility ring at a major Family Fun Day, organised by our trainer, in the grounds of Parliament Buildings, Stormont. I was running the agility, so had to help set things up on Sunday afternoon, then spend the whole of Monday there - tiring!
Thanks to all who have posted the wonderful pictures. Great to see the pics of young birds. We had young goldfinches and, I think, chaffinches, yesterday evening but I didn't manage any pictures. Will try again if they appear this evening.
Margobird Not long now till you're off. Sorry I won't be going, too. We were due to leave home this day week - OH doesn't like going for the early ferry so we have to have an overnight stop. I can't, at present, see any prospect of our getting there in the foreseeable future but others have much more serious problems. Hope you have weather like today. That's when the area is at it's best (or maybe not - fine autumn weather is wonderful too.)
Can't remember who reported seeing a redstart. We don't have them here but one year when we were at LG a pair were nesting right outside the viewing area. Joan reported she had seen an avocet. That's another bird we don't have; don't have woodpeckers either! Oh well.
Tweed should be having a major competition tomorrow but he damaged joints in both forelegs on Tuesday at training and is forbidden by the vet to do anything more strenuous than gentle lead-walking. He'll miss his agility but we don't want the damage to become permanent.
JSB I bought high thread count sheets etc in Asda. They only had white with a lavender border but the price was good. There's an online and catalogue company called House of Bath which also does them but is, I think, more expensive.
Margo - Your OH surely will be active at 80 - my OH is in his 81st year and still climbs and prunes trees, etc, can spend all day in a river, salmon fishing, yesterday he was trout fishing using a rowing boat then spent the afternoon bowling! After our evening meal he was to be found working in the garden. I can't keep up with him even though I am 15 years younger. How lucky are these folk with great physical stamina!!

pateiciat well done to Tweed and Fly on their rosettes but poor Tweed at wise decision not to do anything until he has healed up. You are right it is not long now, can't believe how time is flying by. I am packing warm clothes on the assumption that if I do this the weather will be hot. Plenty of teeshirts though if I get too hot which is unliley for me. I hope that you will be able to take a holiday again sometime in the futute. Yo must really need one as you always seem so busy with dffferent activities.
Heather my OH takes after his Mum who is now 82 and on the go all the time. I don''t have half the energy of either of them. Your OH does well too, it must be in their genes.
What a little Bobbie is shame Tigger doesn't want to play. As you say she will probably enjoy the peace.
