I have decided to start this thread for discussing technical issues that come up rather than messing up the other threads.
I guess the first issue seems to be pasting Word text into posting boxes.
Recently we have had three threads lockup up as a result of posts involving Word text.

Honestly, I despair sometimes :-/ I cleared my RSPB cookies so naturally had to sign in again, but I couldn't - the SignIn link is totally unresponsive. I've tried disabling all add-ons and using FF in "safe mode" but no good. I thought "I'll have to text my RSPB friend and tell her I can't post until further notice cos I can't sign in". Been on Mozilla support and someone with a different problem said they'd have to resort to Safari. Duh! So here I am in Opera. Sorry to waffle on, but it's unbelievable that I didn't automatically think of using Opera, which I've done many times before :-/
AND... I can use rich formatting, AND the boxes for pics and links are here :-)
Scuse me posting Timka the owlet, but it's so cute - it had just failed spectacularly to fly-jump onto the plant pot and taken refuge in the "kennel" ;-D

deleted by me; just experimenting
Testing FF for replying and rich formatting. At least the 'Create or amend post' box has come up now. This was not happening for my last few tries. I had to use IE to reply on chat thread just now.
Edit: Strange how it's working now...weird. Did my use of IE somehow alter a setting for FF?
Still cannot sign in with FF, the cursor responds with a little hand on the Sign In button but nothing happens when I click. However...
I've had to change to IE for my bank a/c at HSBC, whose site has been redesigned. I phoned them to complain bitterly (have used FF for years with their site) and they said it had been too difficult to be FF-compatible - so we must sympathise with RSPB.
I'm getting quite a few odd problems since FF7 that I never had before. Everything here seems to work in Opera.
Testing...same thing happened in FF as my post 2 above!! spOOKy ?:o
I tried yesterday and still couldn't sign in with FF, the button to submit password doesn't respond.
I am having to post as follows because I can't use the rich formatting today - there's a red message "Please post something in the post body" (or something like that).

QUOTE DOGGIE = Hiya scylla have you tried going back to an earlier version of FF? something like V3.
... i got fed up with hitting F5 to refresh the pages of the main page that i installed an add-on called Reload Every, you can set a time for the pages to reload automatically by right clicking on the page and selecting it from the menu box. END QUOTE
I've been given to understand that "old" = "insecure" so I try to keep up-to-date - although with every new version it can be a good idea to let others find out about the glitches first ;-)
As for the reload - it's never occurred to me to reload pages except if there's an obvious problem, thanks for the heads-up, Doggie :-)
The problem with latest upgrades, Scylla, is that companies such as FF upgrade so frequently websites can't keep up, and often the latest versions of FF are incompatible.
Cheers, Linda.

I agree, Sparrow :-( Coincidentally, I've just had a newsletter in (DOGGIE) announcing that support for Firefox 3.6 will end on 24 April:
www.ghacks.net/.../firefox-3-6-support-to-end-on-april-24-2012
Phew! I just had to de-activate the above link in order to get onto a new line to edit this post, to say...
I can log in fine with FF 9.0.1 on my other laptop! So it must be an add-on or plug-in on this one that's preventing me.
Anyone know how to get rid of the Babylon toolbar (BEWARE free soft ware - Free YouTube Downloader in particular) when going in via Run Start Regedit does not work.
Very fed up about this. It all came about cos I upgraded it on a message telling me there was a more current version. Removing programs does not work either. The sweary words so and so s. I suppose I'll have to do a Backup Restore when I feel strong enough inside to do it. Very big sigh.
Also, I've upgraded Firefox Three times and Mozilla is still telling me that I don't have the latest version. Weird or wot.
