Hi, all. Welcome to a new week!
What a sight Alan
Fortunate you
BETTYBOO that poor calf and Mum, how utterly, utterly depraved. People may be desparate, but surely not that desparate. Up here people are generous with donations to local food banks.
JOAN Always say Good Morrning to our many sparrows and who cares what the neighbours think!!!! Had wonderful lunch out at Rocpool ( OH had white been soup and Lamb kebebs with couscous and feta with pomegranite and yogurt dressing, I had a superior prawn cocktail and same main. we then went to local bike shop where OH purchased new bike. I am borrowing a friends for the weekend to see if I can cope with a bike as I have Osteo Arthritis in right knee and leg is still weak after breaking it last year. If i manage ok I too will get a bike. Bit nervous as I haven't ridden regularly for 17 years and had a nasty experience with a European braking system bike in Yosemite over 10 years ago. OH had visions of me spending my holiday in a US hospital. also came off last time I borrowed same friends bike!!!!!! don't think I have any sense of balance any more!!!!

Just had a chance to read and learn that you have survived the storms. So glad about that. Hope you won't find too much damage.

Just caught up with everyones news etc.
DJoan, had to laugh, I've done similar things in the past lol.
Alan - glad you enjoyed your trip to Barnwell CP and lovely pic of the grebe.
Been trying to decide on bedroom furniture all day - trawling through sites on the internet and getting quotes from the checkout box as to which could be the best deal. Have to peruse over the ones I've got so far, can't be bothered to look at any more. You go doolally trying to look at numerous sites.
For those who might be going away for the BH wk/end - ENJOY.
Weather forecast for the next few days is changeable and more in keeping with what we expect on a bank holiday. Cloudy, wet, chilly, with occasional sunshine - nothing new then!!!!

A friend of mine from my younger days in Worsley rang me last night to tell me that our lovely old chapel is closing down in October when the last service will be held on the 2nd. It is the oldest Methodist chapel in the area and is well used by the community but only about 13 members attend regularly. I was married there, we had mums funeral there last year. It will be quite sad to lose the facility but hopefully the village will rally round and maybe it could be used for community purposes instead. Lets hope so.
Hi, all. I am so happy!!! Ospreys are regularly being spotted at Eagle Creek Reservoir, on the northwest side of Indianapolis, according to Eagle Creek officials and birding organizations. At least one pair was sighted there just last week. Eagle Creek officials say they are very hopeful that ospreys will begin to nest in the vicinity in the near future. Ospreys remain on the Indiana state endangered species list, despite efforts to reintroduce them at various locations around the state. They are a native species and were abundant here through the 1800s. Recently, the Audubon Society reports seeing a bald eagle chase down an osprey and steal its fish at Eagle Creek!
I'm so excited about the possibility that ospreys may nest about an hour's drive from where I live!!! Wonderful!
Note: I'm not disclosing information that pinpoints the location of ospreys, putting them at risk. The Eagle Creek watershed area is 162 square miles, Eagle Creek Park encompasses nearly 4,000 acres, and the reservoir itself has water surface of nearly 1,400 acres. The osprey sightings have been widely reported.
(Dr. John Castrale has been able to track an Indiana osprey to Cuba with satellite technology. Dr. Castrale is a non-game wildlife biologist with the Indiana Division of Fish and Wildlife. I can't find much additional information about the results of those efforts.)
