Weekly Chat, Sunday 8 May 2011

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. I hope you all have a great day.

Do check back to last week's chat for OG's gorgeous wildflower garden pics And Lynette's pics of Dunedin & Hampton eaglets.

Linda - I love your pics of Tatton Park, especially autumn.

Alan  -24 handbags!!!! Must be related to our Dau#2 who collects shoes & handbags. Me, I have one all-purpose go-everywhere shoulder bag. Plus the gold one OH gave me decades ago and saw the light of day at the weddings.

Brenda, Linda, Lynette, Joan, OG - On my first trip o/s I had a list of what to take. It helps remind me not to forget vital things like eye drops, film (nowadays it is memory cards & battery charger!). When I returned I noted what I didn’t use and now I check the amended list, pruning every trip. Why drag excess around? Invariably my room in B&Bs was on 2nd or3 rd floor. Besides I may buy things, such as jumpers - that’s my weakness. Stupid really because I knit them and the wardrobe is bursting. So, OG, I shall choose one of them. And camera almost lives in said all-purpose bag!

Joan - I heard a story of a local teacher who had 7 children in her class named "Amy" but all spelled differently.

  • OG no there is a first for everything even after 9 years. OH thinks this was a very clever cat who judged exactly the length of lead Dillon was on. Usually they just run which is not a good idea as Dillon takes chase and if you are at the end of the lead letting go is the only option.

BETTYBOO Thanks for the cute pics of Oska and Archie.

Talking of dogs toys, Fingal used to have his toys in a toy box under a table. A friend who called for coffee enquired what he was doing with his head in a box under the table and when I replied it was his toy box I think she thought I had flipped!!!

  • Bettyboo: Though my neighbour is a super girl she seems to have taken too much on it is Tiger that seems to miss out. That is as far as she comes in but that is probably good as she is not my cat. She doesn't always get tuna from me as I did but fishy pouches the other day and she likes those as well.

  • Dibnlib: Daisy May has a toy box...the first couple she ate but now she just waits for a quiet moment and when you  are least suspecting it she goes to the bottom of it to find the noisiest one possible.

SHEILA   Ord Ban restaurant has closed but it is some weeks since we were down there (find the Aviemore Gallery at the same place a little too tempting on the purchase side so best to stay away) so no doubt the restaurant has been taken over by someone else.

Thanks for letting me know dibnlib.  It will save me a wasted trip from LG when I am there week after next!  Shame.  It seemed very popular even during the short time (9.30-10.30 am or so), and even had film evenings, one of which I am sure I remember as being Whisky Galore!

What with all this talk about pets and garden friends I think Tiger's idea of a dedicated thread would be a good idea!  I consider the birds and animals which visit my garden as my 'pets'.  I don't have cats or dogs or even budgerigars and justify the cost of bird seed by comparing it to the cost of feeding a dog/cat/whatever and the vets fees!

I have one eye on the Eurovision Song Contest too, so I may disappear.  OH is not at all interested and has grabbed today's newspapers to read!

  • dibnlib....At the time our heads were all over the place, but deep down we know it was the right way to go.Animals are amazing and adapt very well, Archie has proved that..Although I think I overdid the kindness forgetting he had a disibilty, he's now allowed only the occassional treat :-(

  • Wendy – my apologies.  I thought Liz said she did her journey with a stop at Mor, but she said she makes a day of it and has lunch there, so I am sure you were right about where it is – and very good lunches too!!  Thanks for more photos of Tiger Lily – she is so lovely, and her coat looks in very good condition for her age – but that could be due to her tins of Tuna!

Dibnlib – enjoy celebrating Dillon’s birthday tomorrow – I hope he knows he is a very lucky Dog to have you two as “Mum & Dad”!

Well, I guess I must give up now!  Hope the Sunday travellers all have a good time – and Margo too if you leave before I get back.  Thanks to all and

“We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when …“ (not really that old!).

    Good night!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hey you tennis fans.  Murray vs Djoko in the Rome Masters.  Sadly (from my point of view) Djoko won the third set on a tie break.  Murray played the best he has done for some time so can hold his head high as he heads to the French Open (while I'm away!!!).  Djoko plays Nadal tomorrow in the final.
