Weekly Chat, Sunday 8 May 2011

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. I hope you all have a great day.

Do check back to last week's chat for OG's gorgeous wildflower garden pics And Lynette's pics of Dunedin & Hampton eaglets.

Linda - I love your pics of Tatton Park, especially autumn.

Alan  -24 handbags!!!! Must be related to our Dau#2 who collects shoes & handbags. Me, I have one all-purpose go-everywhere shoulder bag. Plus the gold one OH gave me decades ago and saw the light of day at the weddings.

Brenda, Linda, Lynette, Joan, OG - On my first trip o/s I had a list of what to take. It helps remind me not to forget vital things like eye drops, film (nowadays it is memory cards & battery charger!). When I returned I noted what I didn’t use and now I check the amended list, pruning every trip. Why drag excess around? Invariably my room in B&Bs was on 2nd or3 rd floor. Besides I may buy things, such as jumpers - that’s my weakness. Stupid really because I knit them and the wardrobe is bursting. So, OG, I shall choose one of them. And camera almost lives in said all-purpose bag!

Joan - I heard a story of a local teacher who had 7 children in her class named "Amy" but all spelled differently.

  • Oh, Tiger - what a calamity    LoL  - oh well,      I do think we are all pretty well grounded   (feet on the ground I mean) .
I can hear talking in the visitors' centre !!  maybe there's a walk in the woods going on !  Hey, how can that be ... there is no sound on the LG camera ...    Oh, it was the Dutch site you gave a link to Tiger . Got my heart going there for a moment LoL

  • Valmc  Yes two chicks at Glaslyn. One yesterday and one early today. See two chicks at Glaslyn.

    and  other nests.

  • GEORGE   sorry you have been feeling down. May sound silly but I have a bad time the anniversary of Fingals death which is just over 4 years now. Diesel must be a great help to you.

Also hope all those going away have a great time. Having splashed out on a new car don't know we will go anywhere although OH says otherwise. Trouble is That I love where we live and when OH has hols we generally stay at home and have day trips and meals out. He has a week off at the end of the month before starting new job but think we will have to go down to Mums for a couple of days and because of the Alzheimers and the bourach that her house is in this is something I no longer look forward to. How unlike a few years ago though must admit she tended to come up here. Had to laugh when a neighbour of hers said Mum thiks I am fanatically tidy. Tidy yes but not fanatically.

  • Valc -       - see page  14 Valc . Tiger's posted a link to info on Glaslyn

  • MARGOBIRD.   Florence this month and LG in June. You do get around. I hope you enjoy both. Loved Florence when we were in Italy a few years ago.

  • Afternoon all,

Hamish got on all right at the vets. The vetinary nurse cleaned the wound and put on a triage which will hopefully last until friday when we go back for another check up. It's a good job he is insured.

Auntie : Thanks for the updat on the 3 nests in Finland. All going well there.

Valmc : Glad that all is well with XL and M. Must be tough doing all that protection with so few people.

Tiger : Loved the talking dog video.

After we went to the vets we went on a major shopping mission to Tescos. I think we have got everything we could possible need for the holiday. You would think we were going to the moon instead of North Wales. Even bought a bottle of German wine for the Eurovision Song Contest on saturday as it is from Germany this year.

  • Alan  The talking seems a huge hit. Apparently there have been over 12 million viewers. I seem to remember that Esther Ranzten used to try to get dogs to talk.

Glad that so many of you liked the talking dog.

Here is another interesting video. A different type of bird.  See  the bird man.

BTW if anyone is wondering how to do live links they are very easy.

    1. Copy your URL to the clipboard

    2. Write what you want the link to be called down. The highlight it with the cursor. You will see the link on the task bar at the top come up bold. Just click the link avatar and a menu will come up. Just paste the URL into the menu and then choose whether it should open the same or a different window (I usually choose different). That is it job done.

  • Not sure if anyone watches storks here. I know that they have not nested in Britain since something like 1416.

Two great cams are Bornheim. and  Storchennest

Storchenest was one of only two streaming bird webcams back in 2003.

Storks have a rather severe attitude to parenting. If food gets scarce there is no popping down to Tesco. It is out goes the little one!

  • laughed myself silly at the talking dog

ALAN what a nuisance about Hamishes stitches. it is such a nuisance when the collars don't help prevent this. Don't like dogs having to wear them but sometimes it is necessary

  • Tiger  I watch the stork cams but did find the parenting skills if food is scarce a bit upsetting but this is nature's way and we haved to accept it.
