Afternoon all: Geez. May already? This happens every year!

Sitting in garden with laptop! Under umbrella in shorts and trying to ID a pale pink hybrid rose I didn't think I'd bought but which is now blooming like mad. I went out to buy orange/apricot/peach and yellow roses and have no idea how this pale pink one got into the mix. Also, it doesn't have a little metal label, which the others do, and I'm wondering if it didn't get into the wrong bin at La Sumida, where I bought six bare roots. In the meantime, Amber Flower Carpet and Julia Child roses are doing brilliantly...  Met friends for breakfast this morning: Had a egg-white and seasonal veggie mix - won't make that mistake again! Very boring and challenging since nothing stayed on my fork. Was forced to rectify the situation with a cafe au lait and a boysenberry and lemon scone!

Diane: I have a visor and a sweathshirt with a hood that I wear on windy days at the whale count. That's it! Daughter has several cowboy hats, including one with a woven decorative band she made from hair taken from Cimarron's tail (the horse she had to put down Feb 10). I'll check out Trucker Steve next.

Alicat: Bet you had fun with Bobbie. Have you sorted your naughty OH yet? :-)

Wendy: Dolphin visit sounds like fun.

Sheila: Argh! Take care of that knee. Geez. A 1.5 hour wait for food? Did everyone complain loudly?  Apparently, several of our channels repeated the wedding video throughout the day yesterday; I'm watching the recording a bit at a time; can't stand to be inside on a lovely day.

OG: More fab azaleas! Good news that son is trying the part-time option; hope it works out for him. Really understand "more money than sense," which also applies to grandson who, sad to say, doesn't have much money, so .....! Still, he's young yet and as always, we live in hopes. Little vole looks awfully sweet.

Hallo also to Lynette. It's past 4; can now officially start new Weekly Chat!

  • Good Afternoon ALL. I had to let OH use his own computer this morning :-). I have been advised that I may not see my computer until next week, as they are so busy. It seems that where it has been taken is a place where quite a few makes of different computers are sent to be repaired.

I think I remember Linda mentioning that her husband was playing bowls after not playing it since he was a young man. At the end of last season my husband was approached to see if he would join the village lawn bowls club. He explained that he hadn't played since he was at University but he went along and is now enjoying playing, so he is playing in a friendly match this afternoon. He is trying to encourage me to try the ladies section, but I have never played ,but I will go one evening and give it a try ,as there is a County player who will coach newcomers.. OH is also a keen golf player and has booked me some lessons to improve my game so if you hear me complaining of aching, you will understand.

Quietwoman, Your walk sounded brilliant, so well written, that like others, I felt I was with you and could see and hear the birds. There is no way you took up too much time or space. It was such a pleasure to read.

Cirrus, Really sorry to hear of your health problems. Hope you are getting the best medical care and are looking after yourself. I read the letter about the owls. Very worrying, especialy if we continue to have bad winters.

Lynette, Your poor OH could certainly do without another health problem. Hope there is a cancellation and he is seen sooner than his present appointment.

Alan, Lovely photograph of Hamish but both he and you must be so tired of seeing the vet recently. Poor fellow. Will be thinking of you both on Friday.

OG, It just seems that your son is hitting many obstacles in sorting his life. He must feel so bad that he has a stomach upset and so feels he is letting people down. Love your osprey photographs. Ever optimistic gulls hoping the osprey will drop it's fish. That fish looks even larger than an EJ whale.

Alicat, I think I would be cuddling Bobbie too much. Lovely photograph.

Linda, Followed your link to the story from China. What a way to earn a living !
You are a brilliant friend to your sick friend. Great to hear she felt able to join in the fun last Friday

Margo, It is marvelous the way you and your OH have cared for Billie and now are able to enjoy her in your home. I used to look after our neighbours cat, when they were on holiday and they used to give her cat milk. If I remember correctly, it was from Whiska's, but I don't know what the difference was. The cat was 18 when she died last year.

Finished all the HW and just have this mornings washing to iron so feeling quite pleased with myself. Time to enjoy the garden and some late afternoon tea.

  • Hi all, doing housework this morning and waiting for the central heating man to arrive this afternoon to give us a quote for radiator central heating. We have warm air heating at present which is not very efficent. Came and duly measured up and told us this and that so await his quote in 2/3 days time. Have another one coming on Friday and possibly one more to come and then we'll see. Already had one quote.

So much news and do appreciate all the posts and reading of them but too many to answer so forgive if I forget to name all.

Annette - picture of Tiger's was I think one of the Canada goose's back but when I put up the cam thankfully they zoomed in on the nest at that time and she was looking round.

OG - just great captures of the ospreys, how fortunate to be able to be in an area where they are more prevalent.    Glad to hear your son is feeling much better. Onwards and upwards as the saying goes.

Alan - thats good news for Hilton Head, but yes, it does look decidedly chilly at St Mary's Glacier park.

  • Margobird, Lindybird, Cirrus, BrendaH, ShielaFE, OG, and all thanks for your news.

Just looked at Montana Bay and guess what? she is still there. Also one of our blackbirds that visit and another one of the goldfinches which have made two visits today.

  • Must go and finish dinner off and get ready for choir practice, see you all later.

  • There's a new blog from John, a new member of the team from London.

    Birdie's DU Summaries 2018   https://www.imagicat.com/

  • just wanted to show Toffee looking after some roofing felt this week..

  • Thanks SheilaFE.

The Dyfi Project is featured on S4C at 7pm this evening.

  • How lovely Gary!  I wouldn't mind betting she is a proper distraction.  She had a very thick coat - presumably to withstand your snowy winters!!

    Birdie's DU Summaries 2018   https://www.imagicat.com/

  • Thanks Shelia, she does still have her winter coat. We haven't had much warmth yet!

She loved the roofer being there, watched him for hours.

  • Gary: Toffee looks intensely interested in the roofing procedure. LOL She's so beautiful.

Bison, my big boxer dog, was shy, not aggressive at all, just shy and a little distrustful of strangers (like I am!). If he was outdoors when workers, meter readers or others arrived, he would hide in a big flower bed. Very cute to look out and see a boxer face in the middle of the flowers. :-)

It's been cold here, too. We had frost last night .I'm very busy today. I'll catch up with everyone later tonight, I hope. Thanks all for lovely pics. Good luck to Hamish at the vet.

Edit: I noticed that I have just surpassed 1500 posts on this site. Sheesh. Apparently, I'm not shy here. LOL
