Afternoon all: Geez. May already? This happens every year!
Sitting in garden with laptop! Under umbrella in shorts and trying to ID a pale pink hybrid rose I didn't think I'd bought but which is now blooming like mad. I went out to buy orange/apricot/peach and yellow roses and have no idea how this pale pink one got into the mix. Also, it doesn't have a little metal label, which the others do, and I'm wondering if it didn't get into the wrong bin at La Sumida, where I bought six bare roots. In the meantime, Amber Flower Carpet and Julia Child roses are doing brilliantly... Met friends for breakfast this morning: Had a egg-white and seasonal veggie mix - won't make that mistake again! Very boring and challenging since nothing stayed on my fork. Was forced to rectify the situation with a cafe au lait and a boysenberry and lemon scone!
Diane: I have a visor and a sweathshirt with a hood that I wear on windy days at the whale count. That's it! Daughter has several cowboy hats, including one with a woven decorative band she made from hair taken from Cimarron's tail (the horse she had to put down Feb 10). I'll check out Trucker Steve next.
Alicat: Bet you had fun with Bobbie. Have you sorted your naughty OH yet? :-)
Wendy: Dolphin visit sounds like fun.
Sheila: Argh! Take care of that knee. Geez. A 1.5 hour wait for food? Did everyone complain loudly? Apparently, several of our channels repeated the wedding video throughout the day yesterday; I'm watching the recording a bit at a time; can't stand to be inside on a lovely day.
OG: More fab azaleas! Good news that son is trying the part-time option; hope it works out for him. Really understand "more money than sense," which also applies to grandson who, sad to say, doesn't have much money, so .....! Still, he's young yet and as always, we live in hopes. Little vole looks awfully sweet.
Hallo also to Lynette. It's past 4; can now officially start new Weekly Chat!
Lindybird thanks for the link to the China story. Don't think i would like to be doing that one little bit. One man has been dong ti for the past 15 years.
Margobird
original goldfinch super pics of the ospreys and that is one big fish.
Sorry to hear your son is not well, hope he feels better soon but hope he doesn't worry too much about not being able to work until Friday at the earliest.
Thanks for the warning Cirrus will hold off reading about it for now. Have only just accepted what happened with the eaglets at Hampton.

Thank you for your empathy Margo - may I just ask you, I’m sure you do know but tender hearted me would like to be sure, so (taking my courage in both hands here Margo as I really do not want to upset you in any way). Do you know that milk is not good for cats?? It’s the knock on effect over the years and ends up giving them bad kidney problems.
OG – simply splendid captures of the Osprey with fish. Please tell me the gull didn’t grab it whilst mobbing the Osprey.
What a great story Lindybird – but did I not look correctly - it didn’t show any birds did it. Perhaps the path is just for the scenic views - wow !

Now the RSPB have done a good job of making it more accessable (sp). It now has a car park and trail signs. One still has to drive thro' two working farmyards but the farmers are friendly and co-operative..... ....Hope I haven't taken up a lot of time and space. I do tend to wax long and lyrical at times of pleasure.

You certainly have not waxed long and lyrical quietwoman. The description of your cliff walk among those beautiful gliding birds was magical in itself. I could have been beside you enjoying the scents of the Whins (had to check that one out!!), the sound and sights of the birds on the cliffs and flying over the water below. Absolutely wonderful! I have said before that there is just something about being close to the sea and all that it brings. I hope you find the time to have a return journey!

Lindybird I think that Terry is going to the Outer Hebrides, and so I think it must be for longer than a few days.
It sounds as though your Eldest had a great time in Paris. I have been once, many many years ago, and perhaps it is time for another trip!. I am glad to hear that your friend was able to enjoy her local Wedding fun, and well done for helping with the ironing. I have a basket full.....
OG wonderful osprey photos yet again! As Lindy says, that catch is HUGE! I'm surprised it managed to take off from the water with that weight!
Cirrus I was sorry to hear you are not feeling A1 at present. Take it easy, and take care!
Afternoon all ... you have been busy posting! Too many to reply to everyone, but I do remember a gorgeous photo of Hamish looking cuddly, a grown up looking TT ... and some wonderful osprey photographs from ChloeB and OG (more please!). Also Alicat's Bobbie looking so cute, and reports from margobird that Billie is quite at home indoors, enjoying cuddling on the settee :-)
It is another lovely day here, although there is a cool breeze. I was amused to watch a magpie this morning (not my favourite bird!) ... it was taking food from the feeder tray and burying it in various plant containers in the garden. I had heard about them doing that, but never seen it happen before. I was thrilled yesterday to see a bullfinch in the tree across the road, and the day before I saw a blackcap. I've never seen them around my garden before. I'm also having fun with my laptop ... trying to get used to Windows7 amongst other things. Maybe when this good weather ends I'll spend a bit more time on it. The Dust Bunnies are still safe for a few more days!
quietwoman - the description of your walk was wonderful ... I was almost there with you! I love kittiwakes ... we sometimes go up to Howick Scar on the Northumberland coast where there are hundreds nesting on the cliffs ... it can be spectacular!
Diane - thanks for the links to the owl photos and other things! I didn't know that about the spots on a female barn owl :-))
Thanks to everyone else for chat pics etc.
Take care.
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Afternoon all,
QW : Thanks for that very descriptive walk to Troup Head. It reminded me of when I used to live in Dundee and sometimes walked from Arbroath to Auchmithie along the cliffs. I remember seeing Puffins there once. I wonder if there are still some there now.
OG : Wonderful pic of osprey with the large fish. Unfortunately Hamish does need grooming as his coat can get matted if it is too long despite continual brushing.
Margo : Billie seems quite at home now and enjoying your company.
Linda : Bedding plants can be a problem when there are late frosts so we have decided not to buy ours until we get back from Wales.
Thanks to everyone else for the chat etc and pics and links.
This morning we took Hamish to be groomed. he went in like a cuddly toy and came out like a shorn sheep. He seems to lose his personality after he is groomed but he is certainly a lot more lively this afternoon after losing a few pounds of hair. Next thing is the vets on friday. It's all happening for Hamish this week. We also did a shopping mission while Hamish was at the groomers.
Weather is sunny again today. Still a light easterly wind. Temps abot 14c, normal for the time of year.
Cirrus you could never upset me and I do know that milk is not good for cats. Will not be giving Billie milk very often as she does seem to prefer water and I would never do anything to harm her. We both love her to bits now and as I type she is sunning herself in my front room by the open patio door. That frightened little cat has turned out to be so affectionate and loving and I still find it hard to believe that she finally took that step and accepted us. She has obviously been house trained as well because if the door is shut she will ask to go out.
