Afternoon all: Geez. May already? This happens every year!
Sitting in garden with laptop! Under umbrella in shorts and trying to ID a pale pink hybrid rose I didn't think I'd bought but which is now blooming like mad. I went out to buy orange/apricot/peach and yellow roses and have no idea how this pale pink one got into the mix. Also, it doesn't have a little metal label, which the others do, and I'm wondering if it didn't get into the wrong bin at La Sumida, where I bought six bare roots. In the meantime, Amber Flower Carpet and Julia Child roses are doing brilliantly... Met friends for breakfast this morning: Had a egg-white and seasonal veggie mix - won't make that mistake again! Very boring and challenging since nothing stayed on my fork. Was forced to rectify the situation with a cafe au lait and a boysenberry and lemon scone!
Diane: I have a visor and a sweathshirt with a hood that I wear on windy days at the whale count. That's it! Daughter has several cowboy hats, including one with a woven decorative band she made from hair taken from Cimarron's tail (the horse she had to put down Feb 10). I'll check out Trucker Steve next.
Alicat: Bet you had fun with Bobbie. Have you sorted your naughty OH yet? :-)
Wendy: Dolphin visit sounds like fun.
Sheila: Argh! Take care of that knee. Geez. A 1.5 hour wait for food? Did everyone complain loudly? Apparently, several of our channels repeated the wedding video throughout the day yesterday; I'm watching the recording a bit at a time; can't stand to be inside on a lovely day.
OG: More fab azaleas! Good news that son is trying the part-time option; hope it works out for him. Really understand "more money than sense," which also applies to grandson who, sad to say, doesn't have much money, so .....! Still, he's young yet and as always, we live in hopes. Little vole looks awfully sweet.
Hallo also to Lynette. It's past 4; can now officially start new Weekly Chat!
Hi Sheila and thanks for the welcome :)
I'm working my way through the older threads, the migration and satellite tracking threads were fascinating and with the helpful advice on offer I'm all set with google earth and tracking back what's been happening in previous seasons. The wealth of knowledge on offer is astounding, I did nothing yesterday but read the threads and learn more about these fantastic and beautiful birds. And it seems you have a really nice community going here too!
I'm so lucky to have a commute that takes me along the quiet side of Loch Ness, I haven't encountered my osprey yet this season but I've seen it regularly the last three years - I nearly drove into a tree the first time I saw it, it was flying so close to the road! lol
Thanks again and I'm looking forward to spending a lot more time here now I've discovered you!
Lesley
Ms Tree welcome to the Loch Garten group. I am glad you enjoyed reading our contributions over the last few years.

Good Morning ALL. Back from church on a beautiful morning, after overnight shower.
Annette, I am sure I wouldn't enjoy your first breakfast choice. I would definitely choose your second option though. I can sympathise with you about your rose. We have a rhododendron, which was meant to be red but turned out to be white.
Alicat, Must have been a lovely time to have taken Bobbie out for his first walk. I remember when we took our lab out for the first time, he refused to move once we left our garden.
OG, Thanks for the link. I did notice the horse on the news highlights and wondered what had happened to it. Enjoy the talk today.
Dibnlib, Lovely photographs of your canal walk.
Linda, I can.t believe that Sweetpea is five months old already, but as you say,' How did we get to the month of May so quickly.'
Hope you all can enjoy today's sunshine.
Hello Lesley, Lovely to see you on here. You will soon get used to us all and besides all the information on the various threads, you will find that a sense of humour also helps.
Lots of lovely wedding pics in the paper, it was page 24 of Saturday’s Telegraph before they got on to some other news! OH has gone to get Sunday’s and there will be another supplement in that. I can never decide whether to keep things like that. I’m sure I’ve got a Diana funeral one somewhere, but who knows where.
Lindy, I agree about Beatrice and Eugenie, and I think Vivienne Westwood is too far OTT on this occasion.
OG, very pretty azalea, we have some in the garden too. I saw mention of son’s split shifts but must have missed what they were. They can certainly take up the whole day can’t they, and there’s not always time between to do anything meaningful. Hope he settles to part-time. We have ground elder...I could send you some?? Hey, you’re up early today! Thanks for the horse news, I had heard about the horse but no mention of the rider, so good to know he is ok.
Alicat, congrats on Bobbie’s first walk, had you got her used to the lead in the house?
Ms Tree/Lesley, congratulations on “coming out”, hope you enjoy the variety of conversations on here. Last year the sound went off at the nest cam and was never restored, such a shame as it is useful to alert you that something is happening!
We’ve had a fine sunny weekend so far, but really very windy, so no cycling. I am on night protection duty at Bassenthwaite tonight so I might have a little snooze later, although there is such a lot to do in the garden and getting ready for our holiday next weekend. I should probably have practised cycling in the wind as I suspect it could be pretty windy on the Outer Hebrides.
Terry in Cumbria
Hi Lesley. Welcome from me too. Great group of people here :)
Tiger, sad to hear Lily is poorly :( I do hope she recovers.

Terry, I read that quite a few of the hats were made by Philip Treacy, including Beatrice and Eugenie's I just can't see why girls of their age would agree to wear such 'creations'.
Thank you Tiger, Brenda, Terry and Chloe :D Nice to meet you all!
Don't think I've ever been congratulated on coming out before! lol Hope the Outer Hebrides aren't too windy for you Terry, but I think you've picked a great time of year to visit, May is usually sunny in the Western Isles! :)
Afternoon Terym, yes i had put the lead on her in the house and the first time she kept bitting it and jumping up then another time i had her in the back garden with it on and did the same on friday then yeserday as soon as i opened the front gate she was off like clappers running it was great to see it, with caspers first walk as soon as we were out of the garden he would just sit and not more had pull him then he would walk a bit then sit and not move then ended up carrying him,but have since learned to get them used to it in the home which i think has helped with bobbie been used to it straight off.

Afternoon all,
A warm welcome to Lesley.
Dibnlib : Nice pics of canal walk and Dillon.
Alicat : Glad you managed to take Bobbie on the first walk.
Thanks to everyone else for the chat etc.
Another lovely sunny day albeit rather windy. Temp around 17c.
This morning we went to Barnwell CP where there was a duck race on. Despite purchasing a ticket for a duck which included the car park charge we did not manage to win. Did not see many birds as there were a lot of people around although we did see a red kite when we were driving past Oundle.
Here are a couple of pics.
