Happy Easter to all
Alan says. . . . Another hot day. Even hotter than yesterday with the temp now 24.8c .Hey Alan - Hot????? We call that "mild". Today expecting 23C here, currently 22.6C.
I have some catching up to do. My apologies to those whose questions I’ve not answered.
Sheila says AQ . . . . I love your travelogue! You are so descriptive and your photos are lovely too. I take it you have an interest in churches. Is this from an historical perspective, or architectural? Sheila - Both really. I like old things and I love the stonework and shape of old churches. I don’t go into it too deeply. Couldn’t name the styles.
OG says AQ . . . . Oh dear! Sorry the paint saga doesn’t have a happy ending. Is it just reflecting the colour of the carpet? OG - We thought at first it was just the reflection but we have laid a quite red Turkish mat across one end and paint is still greenish. We shall just have to buy more paintings and cover the walls as I saw in some stately homes in England. LOL
Managed to get a pic of goldfinches visiting the nyger feeder with my new cam. Only visit first thing in the morning and around late afternoon.

I have been changing some passwords this evening, because of the Sony business and it is surprising to find on some websites, that they hide the 'my account settings', so it is made more time consuming, than it should be.
SheilaFE:
You asked..........'Talking about birds, jsb, is there any news on occupants of your nesting box? Have the blue tits taken up residence? (It was blue tits, wasn't it?)'
Well, the box is empty...........however the blue tits, do keep coming back to the box every few days and one sits in the hole, sometimes they peck around the hole, which is a sign that they are thinking about moving in.....but they have a nest elsewhere I suspect. The Silver Birch is now in leaf, having passed through the catkin stage, so possibly the leaf cover may enhance the chances of some developments.
I had hoped for a more positive report to follow on from before, but the tree has constant bird traffic, due to two feeders on the lower branches. If things change I will let you know.

Hi, all. Just popped in to wish everyone a good Thursday. I'm watching the Mythbusters marathon on Discovery Channel tonight.
Thanks to all for posts and pics.
Sheila: Amazing that a collared dove could intimidate a magpie. Very brave bird! I would love to see your pheasants. Sounds like your red-legged partridge had a bad encounter with a fox. Thanks for the story about the sparrowhawk on the Isle of Mull. I'm glad the fella recovered and was freed. Yay! That was a lucky bird, though. I don't know how he escaped injury from the glass.
Lynette: Lovely photos.
AQ: That cake looks fabulous!
Brenda: Condolences on the death of your mother board. Hope your computer makes a full recovery very soon! Did you explain to the repair people that it's osprey season?!
dibnlib: The crab apple tree photo is glorious! Thanks for the caper-watch description.
OG: Deep pink hollyhock with blue clematis sounds just beautiful. Don't stress about posting your holiday details. I'll be happy to see your photos and read your commentary anytime! Sorry that your son has had a downturn. :-(
Lindy: I'm sorry that Buzz is still not fully recovered. Poor doggy. I'm sending him good energy. I'm also sorry that you're having adverse effects from your medication. Sometimes side effects go away quickly. I hope yours do! Glad your friend is recovering from her operation. I'll bet she's very anxious to get out of the hospital. Hope she's able to attend the wedding block party.
Auntie: I meant to say that I'm glad you were able to get some time off and see ospreys! You work so hard and your job is stressful. Thanks for the eagle owl articles. Loved the photos!!!
Paul: Glad you had a nice visit to the Falls of Clyde. I sometimes look at the Falls of Clyde webcam. It's so beautiful.
Alan: Good luck to Hamish on his vet visit!
Annette: Hi to you! Ducky, get some good rest!
Thanks to all for your kind comments in response to my whinging about the weather. Minor standing water but no major flooding on my land so far. Yay!
Evening all: Seems like a lot of posts since I was here last!
jsb: They were talking about the Sony, Playstation, etc., leak on the news tonight - especially about how long it took for them to notify everyone! No Playstations, etc., at this house.
Tiger: So what did Peter Higgs say about traveling faster than light?
AQ: That cake looks decidedly yummy! We have a Do Not Call list too, but we still get some nonprofits that seem to call a lot!
Brenda: What make is the computer that went bad?
Terry: You earned the Gold Star for saving the ducks!
Lindybird: I usually reply late in the evening when I'm too tired to do anything else! :-) It's relaxing; am not watching the cams as much though.... Hope you - and Buzz - feel better soon; good your friend will be out for the Street party! All our major TV anchors are in London for the wedding, which promises to dominate the news for days to come.
OG: Sounds like you haven't been sitting around twiddling your thumbs! Hope lunch was good - carrot cake on the menu? Good that your son is feeling confident about the job. No point in stressing out about holiday pix - that's not what we're here for (oh dear, I asked you a question about carrot cake - sorry!). :-)
dibnlib: Wonderful photo of Crab Apple Tree - it sings "Spring!" Sounds like a lovely day at LG; Margo will be so excited to read about it. Dumbledore is the perfect name for your one-eyed dog.
Whoops. See page 9 is completely kerpooey! Thanks Tiger for explaining what happens.
Alicat: I think you should plan to do something very, very nice for yourself. Men and their toys!! Grrrr!
Lynette: I keep trying to get a photo of the Lesser Goldfinches but they're as skittish as the Orioles, which showed up on the hummingbird feeder - again! - and sloshed all the sugar water everywhere. Our LGs don't have red hats though.
Diane: Can't believe the number of tornadoes around this year. There was one today - Alabama? - that was a mile wide!? Just awful. Take care!
Hallo to all I haven't mentioned by name. Take care everyone.

Oh Alicat – that is sneaky. I’d have been miffed as well. All that disappointment and extra work. But glad you are keeping well
Deep pink Holly hock sounds glorious OG and what a heavenly holiday. Yes, don’t stress about the pics . Much later you’ll probably find uploading one or two here and there will be pleasing.
Simply lovely captures of the Goldfinches and Misty Lynette
What a huge relief Diane !!!! still nerve racking though till it’s all really over
Annette :
Probably that one can not Annette :) - two trains moving towards each other at 40 MPH have a closing speed of 80 MPH. Not so with the speed of light - two space ships moving towards each other at the speed of light still have a closing speed of the speed of light . Which is : 186,000 miles per SECOND
And good morning and hello to everyone else :)
Sheila - Jasper only developed these allergies a few months ago. He’s now 5. My cake was a very light sponge. Maybe the original had yeast. I guess the recipe varies quite a lot.
OG - I was going to suggest a deep pink hollyhock and then said to myself "Mind your own business"!!!!
Dibnlib - Lovely crab apple blossom. Ours has fruit at present.
The Wedding is causing a flurry here. Some are holding parties with the ladies wearing replicas of the engagement outfit and The Ring. (Replicas of the latter can be bought locally from $38,000 to $9.99). Food of course will be roast beef & Yorkshire pudd and the local version of William’s choc biscuit cake. I dare say I shall watch (telecast from 3.30 pm Fri afternoon our time).
Good Morning to you All: Sunny and bright here, although its cold in the shade. Yesterday, it brightened up in the afternoon after a dull start, and we had our 4.30pm cup of tea in the garden, shading our eyes from the bright sunshine.
I see that the TV News people are now whipping up the excitement over the Royal Wedding, which must be rather annoying for those not interested! The weather tomorrow for London is predicted to be bright, but with the chance of the occasional shower, so lets hope the Queen does not get her hat wet... They are taking bets on the colour of her hat & outfit, as they often do when she goes to Royal Ascot. I must say that she seems to look a lot more elegant these days, its not easy for her as she is not tall, but whoever is in charge of the hats seems to have the right idea. I do so wish that she would not wear black shoes almost every time, though!
Buzz is doing alright - we are keeping a close eye on everything he eats and he looks as if he is still putting on weight, so we are hopeful that he will be OK.
Off to do stuff now, must keep up with things as want to have tomorrow off, being a slob, except for perhaps a bit of the dreaded Ironing in front of the the TV! Also preparing for our trip South to see Sweetpea on Saturday!! hooray!
Have a Good Day, All.
Hi AQ - "Deep pink hollyhock" sounds lovely to me, too! but as you say, none of our business!!! I shall probably go out and buy one now, as it sounds just heavenly. Enjoy your roast beef and yorkshire pud.
TERRY Well done for helping the duck family. Lovely story
Great pics, loved the cat. To follow are some that OH took yesterday at around 8.00 am after our visit to the caper-watch
