Happy Easter to all

Alan says. . . . Another hot day. Even hotter than yesterday with the temp now 24.8c .
Hey Alan - Hot????? We call that "mild". Today expecting 23C here, currently 22.6C.

I have some catching up to do. My apologies to those whose questions I’ve not answered.

Sheila says AQ . . . . I love your travelogue! You are so descriptive and your photos are lovely too. I take it you have an interest in churches. Is this from an historical perspective, or architectural?
Sheila - Both really. I like old things and I love the stonework and shape of old churches. I don’t go into it too deeply. Couldn’t name the styles.

OG says AQ . . . . Oh dear! Sorry the paint saga doesn’t have a happy ending. Is it just reflecting the colour of the carpet?
OG - We thought at first it was just the reflection but we have laid a quite red Turkish mat across one end and paint is still greenish. We shall just have to buy more paintings and cover the walls as I saw in some stately homes in England. LOL

  • Here is an interesting story. A goose and her goslings were rescued from a motorway.

The Norfolk eaglets did get fed last night.

  • Just starting from today but I do remember Alan's blackbird - such a handsome chap. My Bossy Boots is still defending his tray of sultanas against all and sundry on my patio wall (all being the starlings , other blackbirds whether male or female and woody pigeons - and the sundry being bold sparrows !  )

JSB - caught a bit of that on the news. Shocking . There's always some clever  b .......  Like Tiger I don't have a play station fortunately.  Actually, of course I do - it's called a ''Nest '' and it happens to be at  a place called Loch Garden - I play with it most every day   :)

AQ - that's a wicked looking cake - I'm surprised there's any left !!!   Sometimes I come home from work with a 'reduced'  cake of one  sort or another . I eat the lot in one. Better than hitting the bottle  I deem.

Enjoy you day everyone . I had problems with Chat yesterday so don't know if my luck will hold posting again.

Oh, OK - you posted as I was typing Tiger - off to read your story. And thank you.

  • Good Morning ALL.

Belated Happy Birthday to AQ and also Happy Anniversary to Dibnlib.

Lovely to see you all enjoyed your Easter holiday. We spent Saturday with our children to celebrate our son's birthday and then Sunday with OH's Sister, where there were 21 of us. We needed Monday to rest.

My computer is being collected this morning. It seems my 'mother board' has died so is being replaced. It is still under warranty so won't cost anything but obviously not very happy that it has happened at all. We have had computers much longer and that has never happened.

I will hand my OH's computer back to him now and will try to reply to you all later.

  • Very bad news, Brenda And so inconvenient - especially now. Hope the computer guys won't keep it too  long.

  • Morning all,

Paul : I remember the walk down to Cora Linn. It did not seem so far in those days but I expect it would be more strenuoius for me now. Do you still walk from the mill at New Lanark?

AQ : Liked the before and after cake pictures.

TerryM : Well done on saving the ducklings.

Everyone else thanks for the chat etc. Glad to see that the male has been feeding the eaglets at Hampton.

This morning when I was out with Hamish I saw a red kite floating just above the field about 100 yards from our house. I love the way they just seem to float effortlessly then glide off. It just seems so easy for them.

I have decided to take Hamish to the vet for his paw but could not get an appointment until 18:30 as they are fully booked after all the holidays. It is not an emergency so no problem with that. A shopping mission is brewing so i had better sign off for now.

  • Morning, Everyone:  Had a job getting on here again & had to come in by the 'back door' of a link thru My Page....

Dull and grey here, but my day has been livened up by the wonderful pics on the Daily Page of EJ in the morning light.

Terry:   Well done on taking the trouble to stop and save those ducklings. The way people drive along the country roads these days, they could have been mown down.

Alan:  Lovely pics of your Blackbird.  Hope that Hamish is pronounced healing up alright by the Vet today.  I always take note when animals lick themselves, its a sign that they are sore, at least.

Diane:  How worrying for you that the floods might come right up to your door.  Hope you didn't really stay up all night, that's such a hard thing to do. Thoughts are with you.  (btw - will find time to go on your link about the Higgs bosun later -  how exciting it all is!)

Annette:  You are so good trying to keep on communicating when you are obviously sooo tired!  - don't feel you have to reply, every day!

AQ   That cake is something else!  Wonder if it would all have been eaten in one go, here! .. muses - maybe if there were more than 4 people eating ..... five?  six?....hmmmnnn.

Buzz is doing OK - but is not 100% as sometimes he is refusing his food, and has always been a greedy dog.  We shall have to wait and see.  My medication is going down alright, & has alleviated my problem, but I am experiencing some side effects which is not unusual for me: I don't like taking things as I always seem to have adverse reactions.

My Friend had her operation yesterday and has recovered OK.  She does not know when they will let her return home but has been assured that she will be able to enjoy the Wedding Street Party planned. (even if she does have to take it easy )

The middle of the week already!  Must go and do some h. work and laundry!     going to take Friday off!

  • p.s.  Brenda -   Don't suppose you'll be able to read this until later...   sorry to hear about your computer problems.  Be sure to get it all sorted out before they hatch!

  • So full of myself, I forgot to say Happy Anniversary Dibnlib.

Thank you Brenda for your good wishes. I hope your 'puter is fixed soon - that's a calamity in osprey season. Emergency treatment by 'puter doctors is called for.

That cake is deliciously wicked. There were only four of us to eat it but I sent a large chunk home with Dau2 & Sil. There's still a small slice left for me tomorrow's lunch. We intended to go out for dinner tonight. Alas when I phoned to book, my favourite restaurant is still closed for Easter. Tried checking menus of others but computer kept getting hung. So I decided I had better stay home, raid the freezer and have a quiet night, letting the bad vibes clear away. Now I must go back and read all the links I skimmed over . . .

  • Morning all – and thanks for overnight posts/news/floodwatch!  Didn’t get back on later last evening – busy with something, but can’t remember what!

Alan – good to get the paw checked out – sometimes can get sore from licking if they can’t quite reach into the depths between the toes.  Pleased the Hampton Eaglets had a meal – hope the male can continue their care up to fledging – no human interference if he is trying.

Diane – hadn’t realised quite how bad the flood situation is – thinking of you staying awake and wondering how high the creek will come.  I hope some quirk of the wind will blow the storm around your property and keep you safe from storm and flood – and that you will take some rest after it has passed by.

Terry – so good that you could save Mrs Duck and her brood – well done!

Annette – do take care of yourself and take time out from chatting here when you are so tired – we love you and enjoy hearing from you, but we don’t want to endanger your health!

AQ – pleased you enjoyed the birthday treat with the family.  How is Jasper doing now?  You seem to be up late tonight!

Brenda – sounds like a nice family weekend.  Sorry about the motherboard – hope it gets fixed very soon.

Lindy – sorry Buzz hasn’t got his appetite fully back, and about your side effects too.  Pleased Friend’s op is over and that she will be home for Friday.

Must get ready for lunch at farm shop, hollyhock wanted from garden centre, exhibition at Dumfries Museum and buy a lamp tube at the lighting shop on the way home!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

Good fortune attend you at both vet and shops Alan

I had to use the ‘back door’ yesterday Lindy . So glad your medication is working but so sorry about the wretched side affects, what a nuisance.

And ,  Buzz ! oh dear oh dear . Might this call for another visit to the vet?

Very good that your friend will be able to attend the street party.

Diane, horrors !!   do your forecasters really get it right? Any chance of a reprieve  ?

Brilliant of you Terry – definitely a gold star moment . And thank you from me personally on behalf of the ducklings

    What colour Holly hock OG?
