Hi everyone.A happy new month to all. I wonder what the first day in April will bring for the LG Ospreys. Perhaps Odin. :-)

a lonely twig is moving in the wind...
Cats and women will do as they please. Dogs and men should relax and get used to it.

I think there's a poem in there somewhere Alex :-))

Blooming 'eck, and the wind it doth blow still. No sign of EJ, merely the 'lonely twig' waving about in the wind!

Oh dear, oh dear! Sorry EJ, but am almost falling off my chair laughing at your efforts to sort that twig out! Odin, where are you? EJ needs a hand, a beak, anything! :-))
On Tuesday, Caroline said.........
"An osprey’s nest, or eyrie, is a vast piece of engineering - at approx 5 foot in diameter. It can take 3-4 weeks for a pair to build a new nest, which is why ospreys often return to the same nest year on year. It is much easier to do a few repairs at the start of the season, than have to build a new nest from scratch every time!"
However today, EJ says.......
In times of high winds, it necessary sometimes to fell small trees to add strength to the structure. Taking care not to injure oneself in the process.

Just to confirm your observations on the wind around LG. After walking by Loch Morlich we popped up to Cairngorm car park to use the facilities. It was like a ghost town as the funicular railway and ski lifts were shut all day because of high winds. Even opening car door was a major event. Sleet forcast for tomorrow...poor EJ I di hope they have got it wrong...the BBC are good at that.
Thank goodness EJ has not laid any eggs yet so she isn't forced to stay on the nest in this wind . At least she can try to find some shelter in a tree.
Wait until Odin see the mess he is coming home to ! EJ brought in a lot of barricade branches, but they are strewn all over. They both have a lot of work to do when the weather improves.

Really, Woodpecker? That makes me feel better. Actually, I had a really good belly laugh when Bocelli corrected me :)
Hi everyone. Thanks for all the updates and pictures. I feel really sorry for EJ in those strong winds and I do hope that Odin is holding up somewhere a bit calmer before taking the last leg of the flight north. These wonderful wild raptors have a wonderful strength of character.Anyway I took a couple of screen shots from the BBC weather pages for Boat of Garten.
