Morning all; dinner time here - well getting close - off to check the options; back to catch up later.
Hello Margobird OH is able to lift his right hand (the fractured shoulder blade side) higher now, which is some progress. As he hasn't heard from the hospital after yesterday's meeting, we assume he has to heal alone! He is very keen to get upstairs to bed but that's not going to happen unless we get a stairlift. Occupational Therapist due again Thursday.
patriciat is your OH wearing a sling, to take the strain and partially immobilise him? I guess there is nothing more they can do other than wait for nature to take its course. I remember my bro breaking a collar bone many years ago, probably playing rugby, and the same happened then. Go away, it will mend. I'm not sure whether he had a sling or not, it's too many years ago to bear to think about!

patricat pleased your OH has shown some progress and can quite understand that you don't want him going up stairs. Hope the OT will make it a priority that you do need a stairlift. As Shelia FE says perhaps it does have to heal on it's own, as a broken collar bone does.

Bit worried about ALICAT as no posts from her today but I know she is having a tough time. Thinking of you ALICAT.
Another day nearly gone. Forecast was mist, but it only briefly stayed here, followed by thin cloud, so not much sun but reasonably bright and mild. Probably rain from tomorrow onwards. Spent much of the day outside. Started with planting, moving existing herbaceous plants around etc. Then OH started major task of putting new compost bin in place of old ones he emptied last week - a large one replacing two smaller old ones. This meant rearranging paving slabs and emptying another bin, moving and refilling it! So that took him the rest of the day. I was also on a shuffling mission – had to make space in greenhouse for seedlings coming out of propagator in order to sow more in there! I also tidied up some plants which have been receiving extra TLC in pots. Luckily dinner was quick – took a venison casserole from freezer, put potato on top, threw it in the oven and called it hot-pot!
I seem to only get onto this thread once a day at present (but could be more when it rains!) so again very few replies, but I am reading all the posts. Thanks for all compliments re photos.
Diane – thinking of you facing snow again, but it sounds less that they originally promised you! Grey Heron photo is a definite for the competition.
Annette – sorry about Grandson – I thought he seemed to be seeing the doctor quite often – pleased it is now done. Hope consultation went well on how to look after it! I’m now thinking of upping anti-histamines to three a day – tree pollens are among my worst. Sorry TV is still giving problems – but didn’t they suggest third time would mean a replacement?!
Sheila – Manton Bay sounds exciting!
Lindy - hope your OH and you both enjoyed his birthday.
Patricia – interesting route to Aberfoyle, but getting to anywhere north of Forth/Clyde valley from the southwest entails some built up area or another. Pleased your OH has some improvement in his shoulder. Best wishes for Thursday.
Dibnlib – now getting used to putting big camera in the car whenever we even just might need it – for us that can include Tesco as we might do a short detour down to the shore! Also, we always keep the little compact in the car just in case. Sounds like your friend with the Huskies needs a real break – I hope she can relax now.
Cirrus – sorry about the cut finger – how did you do that? Did you sew your own stitches like Diane did a few weeks ago?
Lynette – how awful to arrive home and find OH was at the hospital! I hope the pain is now under control, and that he will get a scan very soon.
George – we were wondering about you! Pleased that all is well with you and Diesel.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Thanks all - OH has been given painkillers and antibiotics and pain is now under control. Its frustating because we don't yet know whether it is a stone or infection and what to give him to eat so it doesn't flare up. We'll get there eventually - just waiting now for a scan date.
LG and LOtL nests look deserted.

Evening all: Very full (too full!) day. Oh for a quiet life! Went to docs with grandson and his girlfriend. All I have to say is that he's very lucky he can't see the wound. Haven't had a chance to look at any of the cams today, and the next two days seems just a busy.
Sheila: Oh dear, poor goose. Life isn't fair! I don't dare visit any other sites; not enough time for this one these days.
Jay-Me: What are you reading on your Kindle? I'm afraid I'm one of those Luddites that still likes the feel of a book in my hand.
Lindybird: Princess Toffeetips Tippytoes? :-)) I heard somewhere, once, that women develop more linear brains as they age. Not sure what that means, since I'm hopeless at math and do ask directions, but I'm the one who hooks up the electronics. Go figure. Oh, and Happy Belated Birthday to your OH.
Margobird: Lovely sunny days here now with temps around 70 and no rain in sight. Great gardening weather.
dibnlib: Had to smile at "balloon on tree" pressie. What kind of tree was it?
Alan: Gorgeous spring photo of cherry tree! Earthquakes in Scotland, eh? All a bit disconcerting I must say.
Cirrus: Dare we ask what you were doing to cut your finger so badly? No stitches by the sounds of it.... Thanks for passing on message to QW; do let us know if you hear back from her and how she's doing.
Lynette: Kidney stones are awful (so I'm told). My bro-in-law had one and "excruciating" is the word. I gather they can "blast" them into tiny, easier-to-dispose of pieces these days with some kind of ultrasound? I have the same "favorites" folders in Windows 7, with lots of sub-folders. You can opt to open them in a separate tab and just click from one to another (as I'm sure you know).
George: Good to see you again. So nice to hear you're enjoying your walks with Diesel. Ha! Good point about male ospreys being late coz they don't like to ask directions! (Makes sense to me!)
OG: Yes, TV can be replaced now, but I'm intrigued by the problem and am giving it a couple of weeks to try to figure it out. Thing is, the problematic TV is now in "my" room and my laptop can't get the wireless signal in there, so must go buy a wireless booster thingy.
Sorry if I've missed anyone; as others have noted, it's hard to keep up what with EJ and Lady back in town. Thanks ALL for pix and posts. Take care.
Annette: Ouch! So very sorry about your grandson's cyst and surgery. That wound is in a bad place, too. I hope he recovers quickly with no infection. Also hope you're not trying to do too much these days. Be gentle with yourself. :-)
Lindy and Annette: Regarding women and electronics. Almost every week, I get a call from one of my Dad's old friends -- all of them very macho prairie men of great pride and few words. The conversation always begins with a plaintive sigh as the man overcomes his pride and says, "Diane, my computer doesn't work. Do you think you could take a look at it?" I always ask, "What did you do to it?" Second big plaintive sigh. "I broke it." LOLOLOL
Good morning. The weather was better yesterday than the forecast - today's forecast is for rain again.
I couldn't get the LotL cam to work last night - I wasn't sure whether that was due to problems at their end or not..
Annette I love books too - I have bookcases , shelves and cupboards full of books. The kindle is for travelling as it will fit easily into my handbag. I always take quite a lot of books away with me - I have been known to read two or more books each day when away. I used to buy 2nd hand books from a little shop near me (often at 5 for £1 & she would buy them back) & would read almost anything. Now that shop isn't there any more and I don't like paying full price for books that I will read once then give away. The kindle saves a lot of space in the suitcase which means my case is lighter & I can fit more clothes in. There are hundreds of free books - new books as well as classics & I have downloaded about 30 or so. The kindle will hold 3,500 books. And since they are free I'm not bothered if I try a chapter & don't like it.
Time to think about getting ready for work, looking forward to catching up on the day's events.
