The first egg has been laid at Glaslyn :-)
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
At the pre-season volunteers meeting at Keswick on Tuesday we were told that the Bassenthwaite female had turned up that day, and at my induction meeting today we were told that the male had just arrived. I went up to Dodd afterwards and watched them both in a tree, very far away, but they were definitely mating, visible through the telescopes.

Thanks for the news Terry, great to have both of them back again, and for you to see them too!. I did go to Whinlatter on Saturday, but there is something wrong with the nest camera, the picture is very poor and not positioned as well as last year. The chap there said they are working on it - I hope so. He did not know about the non transmision to the web. Did you go to the top viewpoint? I am dying to know about the promised benches up there. but I will not be going up to the top until later in the season. I will try to to visit one day when you are on visitor duty. have fun!
Thanks TerryM and ChrisyB. Great news from The Lakes.
Meanwhile still no sign at Caerlaverock:

Hello All
Things here at osprey HQ are now getting exciting. The osprey at nest which I reported last was not one of our established pair but I am elated to report that yesterday the female Royal Blue/White XL returned to the rebuilt nest. There is also a male but I cannot yet confirm his ID. A second female flew in to the stand of trees next to the nest at 4pm yesterday. She is ringed & is in spectacular condition. Due to glare however I cannot yet confirm her ID but it is either white or yellow left leg/dark letters. I will try tonight to enhance the images of the rings that I managed to capture but still may not be good enough. XL was clearly not happy but remained at the nest issuing warnings!! This 2nd female was totally unconcerned but flew down the glen at 4.46.
On my route home I passed the tree which contained the nest which blew down in 2008 & there she is sitting on the top! She totally ignored me & I sat on the bank opposite & took more pics but could not get any to confirm an ID.
So pleased to hear of all returns to other nests! Exciting season ahead me thinks!!
Will post some pics asap

Good morning Valmc what good news and how lucky for you to see an osprey. Pleased to hear that the rebuilt nest is OK after all the high winds which seem to be continuing unabated at present.
Margobird
Pleased to hear your female Blue XL has returned Val.
On the Dyfi Facebook page - they don't have any returned birds as yet, but say Black 80 and his mate have returned to Threave Castle, Dumfries & Galloway.
Thanks margobird & Sue C
Loving all the updates
Kielder have confirmed that it is the male osprey from last year that has returned.
