Weekly Chat, Sunday March 13, 2011

Evening all: Been out all day; now starting to think about dinner.  Back later to catch up.

  • Alicat - it's only the weekend and just a short distance to North Berwick for one-day Bird conference (Scottish Ornithologists Club and BTO) Saturday, and taking in Seabird Centre while we are there.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Eagle-Eye  Belated birthday wishes from  the home of St Patrick!

Margobird What awful luck to get both bad weather and a cold/flu on holiday.  Hope you're feeling a lot better now.

Life is a bit fraught in our house at present.  OH fell down the stairs at bed-time on Tuesday.  I had to call for the emergency ambulance as he was lying in a rather difficult, flexed position and seemed rather confused - not surprising in the circs.  The paramedics checked him out, could find no obvious injuries and, as he refused to go to A&E, helped him to bed.  The whole experience has shaken him up and he's convinced the muscle weakness is worse.  At short notice the OT has arranged for visits from carers, initially twice a day then 4 times a day until the Care Manager can come to us for a proper assessment.  First lot of carers were dreadful - wanted to put him to bed at 8:00pm and said they could not take him to the bathroom as we did not have equipment for transporting him - all of about 4 yards, on the flat!  We managed by ourselves overnight then had two great girls this morning.  Will have to try to cope overnight again.  I must say, while I feel a bit 'hard done by', the dreadful scenes from Japan put everything into perspective.

Thanks all for your good wishes.

  • OG have a good break.

Dibnlib. Loving the boxer. Dylan has had two long ambles today. We go to a viewpoint and today as it was sunny and clear we could see the Westbury white horse in the distance.

Margo what a pain holiday and illness. My youngest is coming back to Scotland with me and she has worked some very long hours in the last few months and as soon as she winds down she will get infected tonsils. Local doc is used to seeing her and she loves our free prescriptions.

Super sunny day here in Bath and Westonbirt was good but in about 10 days it will be amazing when the acers are out. Weny past Highgrove but I don't think any royals were at home!!!

Weather not looking good tomorrow so it might be retail at Clarkes retail outlet in Street.

    OG's OH Happy Birthday.

  • Dibnlib, What lovely dog photographs. I just love the boxer. I guess that is what you would call a mud bath.

Trish, I hope the agility session goes well tonight.

Alicat, I see Casper likes to be snug and comfortable. Lovely photographs,
