Welcome to another week. Do check back lest you miss the pics of many and varied birds plus a certain Toffee. And lots of news of course. Diane had another thunderstorm.
Diane - Uncontrollable children in olden days. Children were sent out to "service" as young as 10. Of course they ran away, thus breaking "Masters & Servants Act". Probably broke other laws as humans do. There were probationary school from which they also ran away. I found some twigs on my family tree who were regularly in trouble with the law - for playing the wicked game of two-up in pubs! Their 13 year old brother went one better (ahem), he broke into a school.
Patriciat - So sorry your OH has fallen again. Don’t worry about moaning to us. We do understand. I’m sending blue skies and healing thoughts to your house.
Our spring bulbs are appearing - confused by the unseasonal rain a few weeks ago. Poor things, there’s another possible 3 weeks of hot weather (34C so far today) and winter rains are not usual until May.
Whoo hoo. Less than 3 weeks to OR Day (Osprey Return day). I wonder what soap opera saga they have for us this year!
Morning all ... sunny but VERY cold and windy here ... thank goodness no snow!
Trish 2 - wow ... a Billy Whizz removals!!
Wendyb - snow tyres off ... and the snow returns ... how typical! Hope it doesn't last long.
Gary - more cute Toffee pics ... I like Annette's idea of a webcam! On second thoughts better not or I'd never do anything else!!!
There's a barn owl roosting in the nest box today ... first time since the autumn! Their diary says it is a good sign! http://www.barnowltrust.org.uk/infopage.html?Id=270

Must go and continue my cleaning out of the conservatory ... now that the better weather is here we want to be able to sit in comfort :-))

WENDY we have more snow than expected so was thinking of you and hoping you hadn't had your snow tyres changed yet but see you're happy to get it done today anyway. Safe trip to Elgin, we are only going as far as town today.
Quite right camera out for that removal firm.
Dibnlib: Was thinking of putting it off and we are in the middle of a windy blizzard at present but it is also melting fast so will go for it anyway. First year with snow tyres so know how to be very very careful. I am a bit of a forward planner and don't like to deviate from said plan.
Enjoy town...my next M and S coffee is my free one. Brodie have started the same system with them it is have 6 and get the next one free.
Have a good day everyone. Trying to catch up on posts and enjoying the photos and captures.
Congratulations on becoming a Good Egg BrendaH.
Bright and sunny here at the moment but very windy.

Good Morning All,
We had a rain shower about an hour ago and it is already dry, but no sign of the sun yet.
Thank you for your congratulations on here and the Community page for the GE award. I find it all rather embarrassing but I am happy that our LG group has been recognised. When the badge arrives, I will photograph it and put it on here. For those who might want to know about the Good Egg Award. This is a link which explains all about it. http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/forums/t/3578.aspx
Margo, Your nephew's wife must be so relieved that her operation is now over and that if she wishes, she will be able to have more children. You are very organised in preparation for your holiday. You must be excited now.
Lynette, Thanks for all your camera captures. Is there not a local person who would make your covers for you? I used a local lady who made all my curtains and blinds for me when we moved here and I am so pleased with them. I know she also advertised that she also made fitted covers. Price was obviously based on your chosen material and work needed. I hope you find a suitable result for yourself.
Gary, Poor Toffee looks absolutely tired out. I guess after her training classes she then helped the farrier and fence man. She certainly is growing fast.
OG, I think you are due a relaxing day. You have sounded so busy lately. Hope your son's appointment goes well tomorrow.
Trish, you have to take a photograph of the Billy Whizz removal van, but I guess it may not be too easy for you.
Wendy, I hope there is no more snow to come for you.
Joan, Thanks for the barn owl capture.
Dibnlib, Sorry you are getting more snow than expected. Take care.
The sun is now appearing and I need to go food shopping.
Good morning Lynette and thanks for the excellent captures, just love GHO but all good anyway.
Sorry to hear you have problems walking due to a heart problem and spinal steriosis. At least my heart is OK as far as I know. When we are young we never think that our body will go for ever, sadly this is not true. I just find it so galling that my legs will not do what I want them to do at times.
Shame about your covers, perhaps you will be able to find some that will suffice.

Morning all. I thought the feeder looked like it had some snow so I looked at the Boat of Garten Golf Club cam and there's lots!
I think a Toffee cam would be an excellent idea and if our houses all became more dusty, I'm sure Gary's would be sparkling :))
Despite wondering if my application to volunteer at Bassenthwaite had got lost, I have just received an invitation to a volunteers meeting, hurray!!! It's on 26th, which is the date my countdown clock for EJ is set for.

Good morning dibnlib we will enjoy our holiday, we actually fly Saturday morning and come back next Wednesday so hope EJ and Odin will wait until we are back. Don't want to miss a thing.
We have visited all the places you have been and we are in Florence in May for a few days for the second time to visit places we missed out last time. So much to see that we work out what we are going to do before we go and not try and do everything at the same time. As you know we went to Venice last year and though it was absolutely beautiful, went to Rome a few years ago and will probably try and go again next year for a few days. Our holiday in late August/September is being spent just outside Sorrento and from there we can get to Pompeii again which as you say is a real highlight, whenever we stay here we always make a trip to Pompeii. So ineresting there as they are still unearthing things that have been buried for centuries. Where we are going to see the carnival we will probably take a trip to Pis and possibly Lucca which is a lovely old walled city, very quiet with hardly any traffic so always very safe to walk around. OH climbed up the top of the leaning tower at Pisa just after it has been reopened and said it really was a strange feeling to be standing at the top looking down with all that lean. I couldn't manage all the steps unfortunately. The first time we went to Italy we did a package tour and found the same with the food. Now OH books flights and hotels where we try and do B&B so we can find our own eating places in the evening. Works well and we have had some wonderful food. Have also met a lot of Americans and even had meals with them in the evening when we mention that we have favourite places to eat. We are always saying perhaps we should try another country but Italy has such a pull on us that I doubt we ever will.
Managed to get on early, done the chores and made some homemade chicken soup - it tastes super.
BrendaH - apparently it would be awkward to make covers for our particular kind of suite as there is no depth at the back of the units to anchor the covers. Will have to get a new suite but in the meantime have ordered some slip over covers to hide the damage the cats have done.
Alan - managed to get one at Hilton Head as well with the early morning sun catching one of the ospreys. Like your capture. Also a capture of one of the pair of Air and Wind.
Diane - thanks for the link.
Weather yesterday was sunny and cold, today is sunny, cloudy, and still feeling chilly. Threatening to rain after light rain in the night.

Good afternoon trish 2 could have been an osprey then. How exciting to think that they are arriving in the UK now but hope they avoid the snow up North by having a rest before they set off again.
Laughed so much about the removal van with Billy Whizz on it. He will be pleased to know he is named after a removal van. He has been around since about 8.00 this morning. Unfotunately not such a sunny day today which he loves, but it is cloudy with some sun which he was enjoying a short while ago. We also had some rain overnight and first thing this morning but it is a little warmer.
A real pain trying to post this morning as the error message keeps coming up but the posts are actually going when I look back. Gremlins again hope it is sorted out before it gets really busy with the arrival of EJ and Odin.
