Welcome to another week. Do check back lest you miss the pics of many and varied birds plus a certain Toffee. And lots of news of course. Diane had another thunderstorm.
Diane - Uncontrollable children in olden days. Children were sent out to "service" as young as 10. Of course they ran away, thus breaking "Masters & Servants Act". Probably broke other laws as humans do. There were probationary school from which they also ran away. I found some twigs on my family tree who were regularly in trouble with the law - for playing the wicked game of two-up in pubs! Their 13 year old brother went one better (ahem), he broke into a school.
Patriciat - So sorry your OH has fallen again. Don’t worry about moaning to us. We do understand. I’m sending blue skies and healing thoughts to your house.
Our spring bulbs are appearing - confused by the unseasonal rain a few weeks ago. Poor things, there’s another possible 3 weeks of hot weather (34C so far today) and winter rains are not usual until May.
Whoo hoo. Less than 3 weeks to OR Day (Osprey Return day). I wonder what soap opera saga they have for us this year!
Hi everyone. Had a busy day yesterday, hair cut and puppy classes and today with farrier, fence man etc.
Will catch up later but TT just posed for you:)
Annette: I'll bet you're not having pizza with anchovies for dinner!!! What's up with all those dead fish? Does the massive sardine/anchovy kill affect the coast in your neighborhood? Can you smell them? Will it affect the whale watch? I'm not sure I believe the official explanation. Smells fishy to me. :-)

OG: I meant to ask how you're feeling? Did you fully get your son's cold? I also meant to ask about how he's doing.
Lynette: Thanks for your kind encouragement! By the way, do you have this webcam in your favorites? http://www.backyardgalahcam.com.au/ There's a whole flock of gorgeous pink and grey galahs on this Aussie cam right now. You are often up later, so you might be able to see these beautiful birds (the time difference in Australia makes it difficult for UK folks to watch).
G'night everyone. Have a good Wednesday.
Evening all: Long post alert! Just catching up - busy day in garden; then to Home Depot for various bits and pieces and then off to see The King's Speech.. Really enjoyed it - must've been exhausting for Colin Firth to go through the whole movie having to affect a stutter with almost every line.
Heather: Heard about some of the artistic licence taken with The King's Speech, specifically the informality depicted between Logue and HRH. I wish they didn't need to add in all the "cute" dialogue, but whaddya gonna do! I've been hearing about the winter heating bills from my sister - and now it costs her about 50 pound round trip in gas (petrol) to visit her grandkids near Milton Keynes.
Margobird: Went back a few pages and saw that you were concerned about "numerous posts" but we depend on you for our updates on Billy Whizz, especially now that he's making friends with the neighbors. Incidentally, when I say we have "wild" weather - it's nothing compared to the "wild" weather Diane gets! Now I remember about Lola and the poison - must've blocked the thought of such an unpleasant possibility. Great that your nephew's wife will be okay after her op. If I miss you in the next few days; have a wonderful time in wonderful Italy.
Diane: Well the story is that the sardines died due to lack of oxygen; maybe we'll get more info later from non-official sources? Redondo Beach is a good two hours away so no smell. Don't imagine the die-off will affect the whales, which typically pass further off-shore at this point, still........ Apparently the Eastern Kingbird isn't anywhere near endangered, so don't feel bad about locking them out of your garage! Good luck with the remodeling and the political stuff (should we look for you on the 11 o'clock news?). Just checked the Galah cam - that bright pink wheelbarrow matches the birds! And boy are they noisy! What a racket. :-)
patriciat: When my lot (daughter/g-daughter) give their dogs pills, they put the pill in the dog's mouth and hold their mouths shut while stroking their throats (the dogs that is) to get them to swallow. Here's hoping your Friday home visit results in some quick action and practical help!
Trish: Isn't it frustrating when you have to ignore something interesting just because you're driving! I find myself craning my neck to check out various hawks - and don't even get me started on whales.
Alan: Whale count back on track (without me) but they did see 17 today for a total so far this season of 74 (no calves yet).
Djoan: Plucky is a good word for g-daughter
Brenda: Congrats on the Good Egg award. Love it that your DiL is in such a traditionally male-dominated career; nice to see women in the engineering and math fields.
Lynette: Those Djuma pix - especiallly the water buffalo - are great. I've been sort of avoiding other cams since I don't want to get hooked!
OG: Hope you can have an easier day w/out HW and ironing tomorrow.
Gary! Ms Toffee steals the show again! Good job we don't have a live webcam of her antics. Now there's a thought......
Thanks EVERYONE for posts and pix. Have a good Wednesday all!
Morning All: This is going to be a very short rant.....snow tyres off today and guess what 3" of snow overnight. You just couldn't make it up...or could you!!!!!!
Wendyb the first thing I checked was the Cairngorm cam and the Aviemore cam and saw the snow. Oh no, poor you.
Annette/ Gary a TT webcam what an excellent idea - maybe not I'd never get anything done! Gary she is so sweet you must be so pleased with her.
Trish: It was predicted but it is now sunny and it is that soft fluffy stuff so won't be around for long. Summer tyre are in the car ready to go to Elgin so will just get it done anyway as I have planned other things around the trip.
The TT webcam would be a cool idea...just think of all that extra dust in peoples houses!!!!
Morning all,
WendyB : Sorry about the snow up there. At least it was forecast.
Weather here today is dry after some light overnight rain. Temp is 7c and the sun has just come out.
Not a lot of time this morning as we are off on a shopping mission to the dreaded Tesco. Pleased that Dundee equalled the club record of 19 league games unbeaten with another win last night. Not bad for a 38 game season.
Margo there's a removal van over the road and the company is called Billy Whizz!!
Trish2: Get the camera out!!!!
