Morning all: Here's to a good week for everyone. Check out latest pages of last week's thread to see great pix by OG of a kestrel on a road sign and a signpost for migrating birds and Gary's photos of the lovable Toffee plus his Toffee-proof technology. Just had dinner and managed to turn perfectly lovely piece of halibut into shoe leather! Hate it when that happens, but was busy watching weather forecast. Desk is looking cleaner - can actually see the surface now. Take care all!
Thanks ALICAT for the news of Phoebe's second egg.
Margobird
Good afternoon Lynette and stunning pic of Mrs Norfolk. Have just been watching the Decorah cam and had some really good close ups of the female on the nest there. Sounds very windy though but at least the snow has gone from the nest.
Good captures of the peregrines and osprey Lynette. Haven't looked at these today, must do so now.
Hi margobird just started watching the decorah eagles was there an egg before if not there is now

Darn it! Just lost very quick and efficient post thanks to pushing wrong key!
Diane: Congrats on winning Lindybird's contest.
Auntie: Thanks (I tnink) for link re bird culling - I frankly don't trust any claims of innocence from any government agencies.
Margo: Billy Whizz sounds ready for some toys - Lightning has a squeaky mouse on elastic attached to a stick that we've secured under some heavy phone books. She gets into a fight with it at least once a day.
Wendy: Sympathies to OH re stress-related eye prob. That's awful; poor guy.
Sheila: Winter temps here typically range from mid-50s (high) to high 70s; summer temps from mid-70s to mid-90s.
Off to rose garden on search-and-destroy weed mission. Very strong and cold storm due here Friday through Sunday - Diane, suspect it's heading east!
Take care all!
ALICAT yes I am sure there was an egg. I am looking at so many cams now I lose track but I think I have got this correct especially as she was sitting on the nest yesterday when I looked.
dibnlib/Wendy Just a thought (from one too far away to be able to attend!) aren't there regular talks given in Boat of Garten - I seem to think that both Richard and Roy Dennis are regularly on the summer agenda. Perhaps the organisers of those presentations might be nudged to invite him - I think you are both not far away?

Just two more, peregrine at the Rome site and one catching the evening sun at the other site.

Thanks Alan, another interesting piece you have found. I was fascinated when I read "He guesses that the bird that the Kedenburgs saw was a male, since males usually return to their summer grounds to scope out nesting sites about a week before female birds return." Forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought that EJ usually returned before her mate, particularly if you think about the shenanigans with Henry and OVS. Perhaps American birds are different for some reason?
WendyB I think it was 'Terry' Nutkins' you were thinking about. He started his interest in wildlife living with Gavin Maxwell and the otters, one of which bit off the tips of two, perhaps three, fingers. It might have been when they were living at Sandaig, Nr Glenelg, Skye. There is a monument on the beach to one of Maxwell's favourite otters and access is across a rope bridge - I've done it!
