Morning all: Here's to a good week for everyone. Check out latest pages of last week's thread to see great pix by OG of a kestrel on a road sign and a signpost for migrating birds and Gary's photos of the lovable Toffee plus his Toffee-proof technology. Just had dinner and managed to turn perfectly lovely piece of halibut into shoe leather! Hate it when that happens, but was busy watching weather forecast. Desk is looking cleaner - can actually see the surface now. Take care all!
LYNETTE/AQ Never tried to trace family tree but was contacted by someone trying to trace his ancestry. OH had received offer of job as manager Sumburgh airport but had yet to make up his mind so had driven down to London to start his new RAF post at the London Air Traffic Control Centre (mil). By Tues he had made up his mind to leave the RAF and accept post in Shetland and he called me at home in Ayr to tell me. That morning we had received a letter from someone tracing his family tree. The address was 14a Harbour St, Lerwick, Shetland. How spooky is that/ Neither of us had ever had anything to do with Shetland previously. We moved up and met this chap who was a teacher and know there was a fairly recent connection. We moved back to mainland Scotland 2 years later and have never heard how much, if any progress was made.

Sad about Mercedes but as you say she is quite old and they explained on the news that they could not a mate for Walker until she dies and from what they say they don't expect her to be with them for much longer. Glad you got ot have your say about the solar installation. I hope they will come up with some satisfactory answers. As I am typing I have Lily's cam on and there is an awful lot of suckling going on. Poor Lily will have lost such a lot of weight when she comes out of the den again in the Spring.

Hi folks, didn't get on yesterday as was busy trying to trace ancestry with some luck.
Too many posts to reply to all so will just mention one or two.
Alan - thanks for osprey info and for the pic.
Dibnib - how cute is that "The Kiss" alpacas aren't they?
Chrstchurch latest on news at 1pm and they think that over 200 may have been killed - they are trying to collate list of people missing with the ones who have been found etc. Do hope more are accounted for. Still not emailed my cousin but must do so after posting.
Thanks for all the news. Weather down here has been positively balmy considering we have had cold, damp, miserable days for over a week now. Fed the birds this morning and did cooking for meals for dau. who is going to catsit for her brother and wife at the beginning of March for a week.
OG - do hope your son enjoys his stay with you and relaxes.
Lindybird - well done to Dianne for winning your mini comp on WINNING THE LOTTERY.

dibnlib just had a look at Chris Pacham's tour dates but there are none anywhere near you.
Watching the Decorah Eagle cam and the snow has gone from the nest and at the moment good close up views. I like this cam because you can hear birdsong and I also heard what I think is the female calling.
Pheobe has laid second egg this morning 7.19am their time

Didnlib: It would be great if C>P> came up here and yes I remember his spikey hair days from his TV with?? Nutkins. About 20years ago OH and I came up with my youngest and stayed on the non tourie side of Loch Ness and stayed at Whitebridge lodges. We were house hunting and new youngest would be bored stiff so she went on a wildlife safari organised by them. She had a whale of a time eagles on Mull etc etc. One morning they said to follow them in their landrover and we had no idea where we were going. We ended up at Chanory Point as the tide was turning and right on queue out came the dolphins. There were a few damp eyes in our party.
OH has as we thought suffering from IBS caused by stress. Company making cutbacks and he has to do reports on the guys that work for him to decide who goes and who stays. Not really what he signed up for but that is life at present.Changed the meds the hospital gave him as Dr. John said they had given it very little thought.
House work started and escalated as decided to spring clean kitchen. Hate doing HW in afternoons and I think that comes from having children and I always tried to do it when they were either at play school or school. Afternoons were free times.
Just caught peregrine at Rome site, also two at the Derby site. Osprey at Hilton Head as well.
Must go and email cousin now. Back later.
WendyB sorry your OH has IBS, not very pleasant and often painful. Not very nice that he has to be the one who makes reports as to whether people should stay or go, now wonder he is stressed. Hope the changed medication will help.
OH always asks me why I do the housework so early. Like you I like to get it done and have a free afternoon. Often ticks me off for hoovering before he has left for work.
