What ho everyone! Lazy day for the most part - girding myself for the busy week ahead - oh for a week with no appointments, no projects, no visitors - but as they, say 'be careful what you wish for.' Several folks added pix of Lily, Phoebe, and anonymous eagles on the last page or two of the previous thread, plus some quickie posts to wind up the week (AQ may have melted by the time you read this). In the meantime, here's wishing Andy Murray the best at the Australian Open - it'll be over by the time I wake up.
Have a good Sunday all.
Peregrine on the Zurich cam:
Afternoon all haven't been on for a while but I have been busy getting my fence sorted so that I can progress to getting a dog and I am supposed to be getting a cocker spaniel that is five years old, but has a bit of an attitude, on Saturday for a months trial period to see how we get on.
We had a sprinkling of snow here but the winds are high but nothing like the weather that they are getting in other parts of the world. Glad to here that Gary and Diane have survived the storm and from the news it is just not Britain that stops because of the weather. I also hope that our friends in Australia manage to keep cool during this time.
I am sorry to here about the other health problems that some people are suffering and I hope everyone gets well before the return of our ospreys.

Morning all: Is my birthday today. Am celebrating by going to help the folks at the Rose Garden for a few hours (lovely and sunny here). OH has brought me - hurray! - another Alison Weir book and we're going out to dinner at Stella Mares tonight. Also got pound notes from sister in the UK (probably the same ones we sent at Christmas - they seem to fly back and forth for birthdays, etc.) with instructions to spend it on something for the new garden, so will add that to the two gift certificates from garden centers I got at Christmas and have a nice splurge when I have a few hours to go putter.
Alan: Just checked the BBC website and am wondering who will take ownership of the woodlands and forests. Surely they won't sell them off for development? England is such a small country, seems you'd need to retain every bit of open space. Eeek. Just had a terrible thought - Disneyland Sherwood: "Meet Robin, the lovely Maid Marian and the merry band of outlaws!" Oh God - Robin Hood hats and tunics on sale? Re-enactments with King Richard et all.... Argggh. :-(((
Lindybird: Oh no, hate to hear you're not feeling better and that weekend visit may be put off. Boo! Big long-distance hugs (probably the best under the circumstances) heading you way!
dibnlib: I had a friend who had two horses she never rode or exercised. Had another friend who had a lovely dog she was allegedly "devoted" to and always raving about but who didn't hesitate to get rid of it when it interfered with her "lifestyle" as she put it. I did not keep my mouth shut in that instance and we were never friends again, which didn't worry me at all.
Hallo to OG, Margobird, Brenda, Wendy, Lynnette and anyone else I've missed. Off to sort myself out.
Annette - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
Hate to tell you this, but part of Sherwood Forest is already "disneyfied" with visitor centre, Robin Hood memorabilia etc - not actually Disney, but similar ambience!
More later
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Hi all, eye much better but have to keep putting in the cream till Monday.
Thanks for all the news/
So glad Diane and Gary are safe, what an ice storm you had. Do hope you get no more.
AQ - heard on the news at lunchtime that the cyclone missed Cairns and the major towns but still reeked havoc elsewhere. At least no one was injured or killed and that can only be good news. They are a very resiliant people and good luck to all of them as they will eventually make their way home and start the mopping up process all over again.
Annette - I believe its your birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY and have a great day.
Just taken some pics at the Sequoyah National Refuge and also one of mum and eaglets at Jordan Lake. Coming up.

Afternoon all ... cold and windy today. I went on a shopping trip to ASDA this afternoon ... and there was a chap there in shorts and vest-top ... no sandals though! The temp was 6.5, but felt like minus 6 in the wind ... he must be mad :-))
georgeg - glad you have the garden fenced, and I hope the cocker spaniel works out for both of you.
margobird - Billy Whizz sitting outside your front door is step towards coming inside ... I bet when a door is left open in the summer he will venture inside!
Linda - sorry you are feeling grotty - what a shame if it spoils your visit of Sweetpea ... but better to be safe for him.
Diane - I hope you had a good sleep and are feeling better today. Glad to hear Gary is ok too!
Thanks to everyone for chat, pics, links etc
Take care.
