Weekly Chat, Sunday, January 30,2011

What ho everyone! Lazy day for the most part - girding myself for the busy week ahead - oh for a week with no appointments, no projects, no visitors - but as they, say 'be careful what you wish for.'    Several folks added pix of Lily, Phoebe, and anonymous eagles on the last page or two of the previous thread, plus some quickie posts to wind up the week (AQ may have melted by the time you read this).   In the meantime, here's wishing Andy Murray the best at the Australian Open - it'll be over by the time I wake up.

Have a good Sunday all.

  • ANNETTE Thanks for starting us up. We will be sitting down to tenis shortly and no prizes for guessing who we want to win. If it is the expected great match I am afraid we will be skipping church this am.

OGThank you, back home safe and sound albeit minus a few pounds Sterling as we popped into Aviemore Gallery on return journey and bought a candle holder and a painting of an owl by Paul Bartlett. Same artist as the Puffins we bought and worth googling I think. Found Mum a bit worse both mentally and phsically as expected. Bro thinks a bad back, winter colds and the fact the day centre she goes to twice a week and so enjoys was closed for weeks are the reason she has gone downhill so we will see what happens when Spring comes.  No I am afraid that I don't speak Gaelic and am too lazy to learn. On Paul Bartlett OH tells me the website to look up is Natural Selection gallery.

Think it was DIANE who said she was interested in theNew Forest. If so suggest she chats with Wendy who used to live there and will be visiting her daughters there in March.

I am sure waste paper bins were mentioned a few weeks back (would that be OG AND ANNETTE). I have a thing about wastepaper bins and a while ago wanted a new one for en suite. Searched high and low for "just the thing" and drove OH nuts on my search. I looked at Tesco, Homebase, Morrisons, M&S, Debenhams and John Lewis in Glasgow. Driving home House of Bruar once again jumped to my rescue. My bin has a white background with dancing mice on it, all beautifully becked out in ballgowns and tails. It was worth the wait. Coming home this time we looked around but only bought from the foodhall. For all those who know it, what an amazing extension they have built. Off to settle down in front of TV now, hope we are not disappointed.

  • Hello Everyone, and Happy Sunday!     Watching the tennis, and its nerve wracking!  Come on, Andy!

  • Aaaargh!  Murray now two sets down, so it doesnt look good.  Looks very hot and sticky there, AQ!

  • Here is  'Cute' pic to cheer me up:

    Tomasz on our last visit!

  • Annette – thanks, again.  Enjoy your lazy day.  I hope landscape project will finish this week so you can concentrate on helping your daughter prepare for Arizona.

Dibnlib – I thought you said after the Puffins there must be no more pictures because you were running out of wall to put them on!  Had a look at the gallery website – his works is good, but I don’t think I would cope with the medium – I would always be trying to read the words on the paper!  Sorry your Mum is not doing well.  I imagine lack of day centre has been very bad for her, reducing her contact with other people; and if she’s had colds as well as a painful back, that will have weakened her.  I read somewhere that older people get far fewer colds, but don’t know how true that is, and doesn’t help the individual who does get them!

Probable new minister is preaching here today – and then the vote.  OH is going to hear him, but I am staying at home with another bout of the sneezes – could be a cold this time, but may be allergies as before – wish I could find common factor, it gets very tiring with it coming back about every two weeks.

Looked in on the tennis – Andy just hasn’t got it in him today – can’t seem to finish what he begins!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Lindy - thanks - aaaah! - cheered me up too!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Got home from church for the end of the second set. Murray is quite capable of bouncing back but just can't believe what we are seeing at the moment.

  • Annette, Thanks for starting the new week. Your landscaping must finish this week, surely ?

Dibnlib, Sorry about your Mum. Here's hoping that more company and some warm sunshine will help.

Linda, Lovely photograph of Daddy's boy.

OG, Sneezing again !  you really must be fed up with it.

Third set more hopeful at 3 games all.

  • Uuurgh!   Meant to be going for a walk with Dog, and doing BGBW this morning, instead am looking at the screen in horror at Murrays struggle.

Sorry about your Mum dibnlib, its very hard to see them like that when you can do nothing, I know.

OG:  What a shame you are sneezing again - may be it is an allergy, after all.  My Oh has a bad chest and his sides are aching from coughing, now his cold has really taken hold.     I said,   I have 'decided'  I do not have time to catch it from him, so watch this space.

More cuteness, as I posted the wrong pic and meant to do this one, but was busy watching the match!

---poor Murray just lost, after I wrote the above... what a shame.

  • Very well deserved win for Novak Djokovic.
