What ho everyone! Lazy day for the most part - girding myself for the busy week ahead - oh for a week with no appointments, no projects, no visitors - but as they, say 'be careful what you wish for.' Several folks added pix of Lily, Phoebe, and anonymous eagles on the last page or two of the previous thread, plus some quickie posts to wind up the week (AQ may have melted by the time you read this). In the meantime, here's wishing Andy Murray the best at the Australian Open - it'll be over by the time I wake up.
Have a good Sunday all.
Good morning, Thursday. Bright and sunny, but still a cooling breeze. OH is already working in the garden! Son phoned from Grantown – they have some fluffy white stuff!
Brenda – how kind of you to respond to the elderly neighbour’s need for conversation last evening – and to feed her and give her company all evening. I do hope the council will genuinely seek out a good home for your furniture.
Lynette – pleased the eye is a bit better and that you managed choir practice – but do take care and rest it as much as possible.
AQ – sounds like damage in Queensland has been to some extent localised, with pockets of structural damage, although infrastructure is down so we still don’t really know full extent - but great if no lives have been lost. Crop damage will be expensive for the economy, and Queensland will take a long time to recover from summer of 2010/11 – will this latest event increase the temporary recovery tax which was imposed after the floods?
Diane – seems like you are lucky to have the current restored so soon – must be quite a bad situation in Montgomery County as a whole, to be Level 1 Emergency! I hope you are getting a good sleep as I write this, and that you didn’t lose any of your lovely trees under all that ice.
Annette – we bought a gas BBQ when OH took his (first) retirement 10 years ago – supposedly his way of sharing the cooking! That summer was a good one, and we used it quite a lot – although I always seemed to do all the marinating and salad prep! Then it went down hill – and I don’t think its been used since 2008! It sits out on the deck, looking really ugly under it’s cover, and I keep saying I want to get rid, but he hates to dispose of anything he might “one day” use! Perhaps this year I might just schedule BBQs into the menus, and if the weather isn’t right he can grill indoors!
Dibnlib – I can understand why you are concerned about your niece’s dogs – but nothing you can do - at least the new one will be company for the older one.
Alicat – haven’t been to Bear Centre yet this morning; that will be my next “visit”!
Wendy – enjoy your white and sunny walk this morning – I think it’s supposed to change to heavy rain tomorrow or Saturday!
Lindy – sorry you feel so grotty this morning – and not a good prospect for the weekend, I agree. But, shopping and preparation aside, even if they did come, you wouldn’t enjoy it to the full. Take care.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
margobird said: Good morning ALICAT I just logged in and as always went to the den cam first and then watched the video. Plenty of action and I love the way Hope is being such a good sister to them. I think these are the best views of the cubs and the inter-action with Hope, Lily and those adorable cubs.

Diane how pleased I was to see a post from you and know that you are OK. That must have been very frightening for you. Thanks heavens power came back for you.. It sounds just horrendous and I watched the news where we had quite good coverage of the snow in the USA and also Cyclone Yasi in Queensland. Absolutely mind boggling to watch what has been going on. Mind how you go and don't slip over. No wonder you are exhausted and I hope you have a better night's sleep and you do not get yet more snow.
Margobird
aquilareen sorry you are still having such heat. Not good when sleep is disrupted so I hope that it will cool down a bit for you.
Been reading about Cylone Yasi and also quite a lot of coverage on our news. What destruction it has caused. I did hear that there have been no deaths so hope it stays that way. Very frightening watching the winds damaging the buildings.
How amazing is that story about the man, his wife and friend, and animals who appear to have come through unscathed. Wonder when he managed to get out and see the damage to his trees and land.
Good morning Lynette and thanks for the captures of the eagles at Hampton (wondered why I could not get cam up yeaterday), Lily, Hopeand cubs. Hope the wind has not damaged the tree at Hampton.
Hope your eye is a little better again today.
Good morning Brenda H and how kind of you to invite the lady back for afternoon tea and dinner. Nice to see that she does have family who visit regularly as well as many friends. Your invite must have been very welcome for her.
Hope the council do find a needy home for your furniture as I am sure it will be greatly appreciated by the persons that receive it.
Goodmorning Alan love the groundhog animation.

Thanks jsb for the above link. Amazed that people just accept whatever is thrown their way.
Hi Annette thanks for the link to the storm. There is now way I could live with that sort of weather being as terrified of storms as i am. Good job we don't get many and when we do they are nothing like that.
Tried to take a pic of Billy when he was asleep in the flower tub on Sunday in the sun. Managed to get the bedroom window open but as soon as we put the camera out a bit he was uneasy so we left it for now. Oh went out to the garage last evening and he was actually sitting ourside our front door. We left it open for a while wondering whether he would be brave enough to come in but he is not ready yet.
Good mroning DjoanS so pleased that your back is improving and you are taking it easy around the house.
original goldfinch good news at the dentist with just one small filling although that will cost a fortune I expect. On my next visit at the end of March I have a filling and 2x-rays to be done so mentally preparing myself for a bill of at least £70.
