What ho everyone! Lazy day for the most part - girding myself for the busy week ahead - oh for a week with no appointments, no projects, no visitors - but as they, say 'be careful what you wish for.' Several folks added pix of Lily, Phoebe, and anonymous eagles on the last page or two of the previous thread, plus some quickie posts to wind up the week (AQ may have melted by the time you read this). In the meantime, here's wishing Andy Murray the best at the Australian Open - it'll be over by the time I wake up.
Have a good Sunday all.
Yasi now category 4, but still dangerous, local time, Cairns about 3.50AM.

I have power, electricity, or as the folks say around here, "the current"!!!!!!!!! My power went out yesterday morning during the beginning of the storm, and it was just now restored. I'm okay, but it has been a rough, scary 24 hours here! Off to catch up with posts and will be back to comment a bit later. I'm really okay. Yay!!!!!!!!! I'm sooooooo glad to "see" you all!!!!!!!!!
Diane So glad to know you have survived the storm. You are very brave - I'd be a gibbering idiot if I had to face something like that alone. Hope the critters in your garage survived too.
Diane - so glad to read that you are ok ... hurray!!
OG - pleased that you only have one filling to do ... hope it goes ok. My back is much better now, thanks. I'm still being very wary though ... no lifting, bending, stretching or twisting ... that lets me out of a lot of work around the house!!!
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Morning/afternoon all: That Queensland storm looks awful - have been looking at it on Weather Underground's WunderMap, which shows wind speeds, etc. Those poor people have been through enough already!
Diane: Good to hear you've got "the current" and, as Punxatawney (or whatever) Phil says - thanks Alan! - looks like you might be getting an early spring. Say hi to the critters.
BrendaH: Oh no. What a bore - can you sell your old couch? We have something here (online) called craigslist (in most communities) where folks sell a lot of stuff (they have a free section too). So where is the old sofa, etc.? Not out on the front lawn we hope. :-)
jsb: Thanks for the info on the gremlin glitch - I'll remember the screen shot next time round.
Patricia: Congrats on getting invited to the World Championships with Tweed. Are you sure you can't go?
Lindybird: Blackcurrant and apple crumble will cure anything (ice- or whipped cream helps too!)
OG: Seems like some leaders can ignore quite a lot when it comes to climate change. And yes, thought it was going to be a quiet day today, but no.....
Wrinklie: Nice to see you - and the butterfly.
Margo: Get that camera out so when Billy Whizz is ready for his close up, you'll have it handy.
Hallo to everyone else - take care all,
Diane - pleased you are safe after the storm. Are you very remote?
Patricia - Skipton on Swale is 18 miles away - thanks AA route planner. I knew the name but couldn't tell you how far it was. We go once a week to a club that's only about 6 miles away. My OH usually does the agility as I couldn't hope to keep up with the speed either and as for remembering the course ha ha. One of us is starting an advanced obedience class with her on Friday night too. I think that will be me. I did it before and got 2nd so will be aiming for 1st this time! She's quite good really and doesn't need to do it again but it's all mental stimulation for a busy collie.
Gary - I hope we hear from you soon.
Diane – phew!!! So glad to know that you not only survived the blizzard but also have “the current” so you could tell us you are safe. That must’ve been so scary for you! Over 24hours of that weather – yuckk – doesn’t bear thinking about!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Apropos of nothing; Here's a video taken out someone's window of an amazing thunderstorm that hit Mississippi last August. It's the constant flashes of lightning that make it worth watching (or not).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kfTZCh8ntQ&feature=fvwk
I also just Googled Yasi and some folks are uploading videos as it goes by....
