Morning all: Long day at the rose garden - poor Robert who supervises the volunteers has been fighting off a bug and a couple of us stayed on longer than usual to help him clean up stuff. I'm sure I'll be stiff tomorrow. Not as many folks showed up as last year and some of the beds were pruned by city employees which means we'll have to go over those beds again since they did a fairly perfunctory job.
Watching Mad Men (Netflix rental video of first season). Great viewing when you're too tired to think. Take care all and have a nice Sunday.

GARY love the snow pics and of course love the goldie pics even more. Met a chap at Chanonry today walking an elderly black Lab. Turned out that she was a retired guide dog who had been with them for puppy walking. It makes sense but I had not realised that if a retired guide dog does not stay with owner the next refusal is to the original puppy walker and this couple have ben puppy walking for over 30 years and have taken on a few retireds. He said at one point they had 4 dogs, 3 were retired and one was being puppy walked. He also told me that in a few weeks time they will be getting a flat coated retriever puppy for themselves and this will be the first time in over 30 years they will have trained a pup to keep for themselves. What dedication.

OG didn't go to choc shop, not because we were good but because we already have some of Lukes wonderful choc's at home.
Probably will not see Wendy this week after all as we have more or less decided to go down to Mums on Thurs for a couple of days ( so must get chocs to take down). Hopefully we will also be able to visit my cousin who has been in hosp in Livingston since June. She had a fall and has ALD and there were complications. she is 49 now and has been warned she might not walk again.
Dibnlib - sorry you will not see Wendy this week - but there will be other times. Pleased you feel able to make a visit to your Mum - will be thinking of you as I know you find it difficult because of her Altzheimers. So sad about your cousin too, at such a young age. Take care!

Morning all: Just came back from lovely walk to Lake Los Carneros and back. Saw White-tailed Kites ferrying twigs to and from their nest; Double-crested Cormorants stretching their necks to look at a group of Canadian Geese that were making a racket but being ignored to two very above-it-all swans that appeared last week. Walked part of the way with folks visiting from Seattle, who pointed out a tree full of Cedar waxwings and said they'd seen the female Bobcat yesterday morning casually crossing the main path around the lake. Sunny and warm today, and the TV weather folks who were telling us how much above the normal rainfall we got a month or so back and how we didn't have to worry this year about water are now wringing their hands and wailing about no rain in the near future! Wish they'd make up their minds.
Watched A Single Man on video last night. Love Colin Firth but found the film more than a little slow and quite depressing. Thank heaven the second in my Mad Men series arrived yesterday. Also recorded spoof of Casino Royale with Peter Sellers, etc., which might be a giggle.
Margobird: You can expect lots more hugs from this group in the weeks ahead! But oh, I can't believe your sister's OH wasn't told about all the scan findings. Of course, as OG points out, that may be because they wanted to be sure.... I do hope he has someone he can rely on for future updates. And more anxiety and uncertainty for you and, of course, your dear sister. I'm so, so sorry she and your family are going through all this; still, where there's life, there's hope, and that's what counts right now.

Alan: Sorry to hear that Thunderbird back in the box but love that action shot! How clever of you! If the guys in the shorts were young, could be they have what I've heard called "brown" fat cells that allegedly protect young people from feeling the cold as much as older folks. (This may also for young girls wearing skimpy clothes in the midst of winter - or maybe not). :-)
OG: My "new" office still has the shredder, which means papers will be shredded regularly, unlike when my OH was in charge of it! Shredders can overheat and stop for a breather, but I've been known to jam (smaller) shredders and then have to use tweezers to pulls out the bits. Kudos to Jason for fixing the Bear Cam - how typical that it would go down at such a time.
Brenda: Congrats on the quiz, but are the other participants smelling blood I wonder? Watch your backs. :-)
Alicat: No help re the cam - I haven't been watching I'm afraid; hope you/it got sorted out. Great Eagle shots there!
Gary: I too am having a hard time keeping up with stuff - and we've all got very chatty on these pages of late. OMG! Wonderful puppy pix - love the one in the basket with all the toys (but can dogs see in color??) But pix of your OH in the snow made me shiver. Brrrrr.
