Morning all: Long day at the rose garden - poor Robert who supervises the volunteers has been fighting off a bug and a couple of us stayed on longer than usual to help him clean up stuff. I'm sure I'll be stiff tomorrow. Not as many folks showed up as last year and some of the beds were pruned by city employees which means we'll have to go over those beds again since they did a fairly perfunctory job.
Watching Mad Men (Netflix rental video of first season). Great viewing when you're too tired to think. Take care all and have a nice Sunday.
MARGO Sorry to hear news is not good.
Got confused when posting. The swelling should reduce within a few months, though ankle might always be a little swollen. Normal walking may take up to a year from date of accident. Yes ANNETTE it was a real number I did on leg. Consultants have been shaking their heads when looking at the X rays saying "nasty, yes very nasty" and in fact one ortho of many years said he had never seen anything quite like it. I would rather not have had that claim to fame. Off to excercise, hope to see you later.
Morning, All. Misty and damp here, again.
Wonderful to hear about Lily's cubs - now we shall speculate on their sexes! Poor Hope, her nose will be a bit out of joint for a while.
So sorry to find that your sister's news is not good, margo - big <<HUG>> coming your way.
Morning all,
Margo : Sorry to hear that the news of your sister is not good.
Patriciat : Glad Tweed is on the mend.
Alicat : Thanks for the news of Lily s cubs. Its going to be mighty crowded in that den soon. Also thanks for the eagle pics. Every time I looked yesterday the nest was empty.
Lynette : Thanks for the array of pictures.
Annette : The inner Thunderbird has receded again today as it is very dreich today.
Diane : I could never picture you living in a city. You are so lucky to be away from all the noise and traffic.
Weather is dull and dreich. It was a little bit frosty but not as bad as yesterday. Temp is 3.9c and rising. Hamish eyes are gradually improving so the gel and tablets are working. I expect we will be going out and about this morning shopping. I forgot to say that when I was at the Co op on thursday there were 2 guys walking about in the car park with shorts on. Temp was 4c. Must be mad.
Patriciat how's Tweed today?
Margo sorry to hear your news is not good
Wonderful that Lily's got 2 new cubs but wonder what Hope will think having to share.
Forecast: fog. Actual: bright sun, but again it’s cold. Doesn’t look like we are going to Boys Brigade coffee morning. Been busy shredding stuff we had outsorted. Sitting here sneezing like crazy – did it yesterday from about lunchtime through evening, then nothing at all during the night – possible paper dust - think I’ll have to try anti-histamines as I don’t feel like I have a cold.
Patricia – glad that Tweed was able to fancy a little snack last night – I hope he is more himself today – but I assume you will have to rest him from competition.
Lynette – pleased you enjoyed the birthday meal.
Annette – read on WRI part of Bear site how Jason risked frostbite - and worse - to get the camera back yesterday!
Diane – so pleased you have confirmed that you will stay in your “Little House on the Prairie” (but with woods!) – that great Hawk needs somebody to watch over! Sorry it is getting even colder – keep wrapped up warm.
Margo – sorry you did not have good news of your sister – but thoughts and prayers continue.
Lindy – Bear report doesn’t seem to know whether there are one, two, three (or even four!) cubs – they will be analysing video to try to decide.
Alan – I see Post Office are offering Thunderbird stuff on their website!! Pleased Hamish is responding to treatment.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Morning all ... dull morning here and no frost. I think I prefer sunshine with frost!
Great news about Lily's new cubs ... I wonder what sex they will be ... and what names will be chosen.
margobird - sorry you seem to have had bad news of your sister ... thinking of you ... and more big hugs!
patriciat - I hope Tweed has continued his improvement overnight, and that it was just a reaction.
Diane - I'm sure it is much more pleasant living where you are, with all your wildlife, than in the city ... I know which I would choose!!
OG - I hope your sneezing does not turn out to be a cold.
Alicat - thanks for eagle pics.
Lynette - glad you enjoyed your birthday meal ... and thanks for your various pics too.
Alan - pleased to hear that Hamish's eyes are improving.
Thanks to everyone I haven't mentioned, for chat etc.
Take care.
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Good Morning All. Another cloudy and grey day with the odd shower forecast..
I see we could be waiting for confirmation of even more than two cubs for Lily. I think she will have enough with just two, plus Hope.
Margo, Sorry that the news of your sister is not good. We must keep hoping and praying. Stay strong and love and hugs from me.
Lynette, Thanks for all your pictures.
Alan, Hope Lady P is alright and receiving treatment, if needed. We used to have such problems with my mother, but it was always 'white coat syndrome' with her. She hated going to see the Dr. Good to hear Hamish is responding to his treatment, poor fellow.
Patriciat, Sounds as if Tweed may be recovering, but obviously worrying for you.
Diane, The only good thing about living in the city is that it is usually a few degrees warmer, but must admit I do enjoy an occasional trip to London to see my children, go to the theatre and to clothes shop. Always Glad to come home though.
We won the Quiz last night but only by two points.
Hi Alan, i guess i got lucky when i looked in yesterday at eagle nest although quite a bit of the time when i could get nest up it was empty, have beening having problems getting the nest up get error message, have you had problems getting the nest up

Good morning all again and now for the bad news re my sister and once again I am so touched by your kind thoughts and prayers for her.. They have not been able to remove all the brain tumour and have also said that of the other two that have been found, one is too deep to operate on. The third one is smaller and for now they are hoping that if she decides to have the radiotherapy it might go. Unknown to my sister (when she was in a very confused state after the operation) they did a full body scan and have found suspicious nodules in her lungs and one in her breast. Again, there seems to have been a complete lack of communication as her OH knew nothing about this scan until they attended the hospital appointment last Thursday. They are going to scan the lump that has appeared on her leg but do not feel this is anything to worry about. She has to think about having the treatment and let them know on Monday if she is going to go for it. When my other sister spoke with her last night it would seem almost certain that this is the route she will take as she does not have much in the way of options at present. They would prefer to do it now as her health at the moment is quite good and if she decided not to have it, six months down the line her health could be a lot worse. The hospital did mention that there is a new treatment which they are trying out and apparently it has quite a good success rate but it is early days for that at the moment. All in all she has a fight on her hands but the family is quite certain that is what she will do. I will phone her again on Monday evening to find out if she is going tor the radiotherapy treatment but I am pretty sure her mind is already made up.
Wonderful news about Lily and her cubs and as I type I think one of Lily's cubs is suckling. Forgotten what a sweet little noise that is. Also sounds as though one of the cubs is now bawling. Lily is going to have her hands full from now on. I wonder how Hope will adapt now although I must say it has all gone quiet in the den now. Really feel down but this has cheered me up a bit.
patriciat and Alan pleased to hear that Tweed and Hamish are recovering now.
Thanks to all for all the captures from various webcams, the eagles are just magnificent. Didn't manage to see them on the nest yesterday but will have a look later as after OH comes home with the shopping he is off to work. Very busy time for accountants in January and he still has our tax returns to deal with. Always says he will do them in October but never gets round to it.
Weather here started off frosty, followed by a sleet shower which froze as soon as it hit the ground. Now gone cloudy again and not feeling much warmer.
Billy Whizz has visited three time already this morning and even investigated the garage when I out doing my bird thing. He ran off when I appeared but only went a little way down the drive instead of disappearing. Really feel he is a lot more relaxed around us now.
Hope you all have a good weekend and take care.
Margobird
Thanks for all the hugs really needing them today.
